8 minutes was daft, as you say I thought it would be 6 at most!
These days the 4th official make a note of every stoppage that
needs the time to be added. If they put up 8 minutes they will
have absolute evidence to support 8 minutes.
Sounds like you agree with every single added time given. 8
minutes was a total nonsense, I have seen many games this year
have less for more stoppages and more time lost.
I think that argument is probably more applicable to games not
having enough time added on because you could argue FO didn't
properly record an act of timewasting etc because they missed it
or whatever. But if they've recorded 8 minutes of lost time it
seems difficult to argue with that. And given how poor
timekeeping has been for a number of years I'm certainly very
supportive of far more stoppage time being played this season.

Difficult not to agree with it, watch the 4th officials at every
stoppage and you will see them making a note of it. Perhaps
you'd like to post your stoppage log on here given you are so
sure 8 minutes was too long?

Absolutely, neither warranted penalties with nowhere near enough
contact, if any. Coupled with the fact there should have only
been 6 minutes at the very most, United can feel very aggrieved
here. Almost as comical as their defending…

I agree with your earlier point… have seen a few games lately
where barely any stoppage time has been awarded, certainly not
enough. And yet here we had 8 minutes despite only 1 goal, 1
injury, a few subs and small amount of everyday time wasting
near the end of the 90. The inconsistency is poor, sorry.

Just caught up with the match, I cannot agree with the posters
on here, most of whom back referees even when they make the most
obvious howlers. The first penalty is a poor decision, almost as
bad the one Chelsea got against Burnley. Similar to the one
Gillett awarded for Wolves against Man United back in Feb where
there was minimal if any contact. The second one is soft and
more understandable/supportable as there is contact. The
penalties don't match the way he refereed the game where he
waved away at least 5 if not 6 similar incidents for both sides
throughout the game (not awarded as free kicks). Total lack of
consistency in the game for such big decisions as well!
Agreed not sure where 8 minutes came from: I watched the entire
game and counted up the stoppages and it came to 5 minutes 52
seconds so a minimum of 6 should have been added. I have seen
games this season with far more stoppages and only 4/5 minutes
added on.
I have seen Gillett a handful of times and have seen 1 very good
performance 2 average ones and 2 very poor ones. I'm not sure he
is as good as people on here are saying

Antony doesn't complain because he knows he fouled him. The
contact is clear, just above Cucurella's left knee. The angle
from behind the goal shows it. Same with Dalot right at the end,
he clipped Madueke's heel.
You can look to the reaction of players to know if there was
contact or not. Antony's facial gesture confirms it, a slight
grimace as he knows what he's done, and it's why he doesn't
complain. Equally Dalot at the end, he buries his face in the
turf as he knows he's clipped the heel.

It's not a perfect measure but quickly looking it up then it
seems there were 9 subs in second half plus the goal before
second half stoppage time, so if you applied the approach that
the lay person often followed previously of 30 seconds per
sub/goal then you'd be at 5 minutes already. When you consider
they're being more precise this season, you mention an injury
and some timewasting, and perhaps some other small amounts of
lost time like anything VAR might have quickly looked at then 8
minutes doesn't seem too extreme for approach this season.

I'm sure Jarred is here because there are less things here to
kill him on a daily wander or swim. All we have are turds in the
rivers and falling down schools, not alligators, spiders,
snakes and jellyfish. 😉
