Good decision from Madley not to award a penalty after been sent
to the monitor by Oliver. Dunk fouled however he fouled the
player first

Agree 100% Madley was spot on to deny the penalty would have
been easy to take the easy way out and go by olivers referral

Based off of Olivers extremely high standards that's a very poor
referral from him.
It takes a series set of cohonas to do what Madley done,
especially with Oliver in the Booth.

Very surprised by the summons to the monitor by Oliver… he’s
usually impeccable and very articulate in his presentation of
his evidence but hats off to Madley for sticking to his guns.
Again, this would be a very good thing to show on Webb’s monthly
VAR show.

I have two views on this.
From the depths of my memory, I thought the process was that the
VAR had to recommend a review if he/she felt it was a penalty.
But then also show any potential fouls before this to allow the
referee to decide.
If this is correct, then it's a very good review from VAR.
If this isn't correct, then its a very poor review from VAR
Hopefully PGMOL can explain, or it can feature on the Mic'd up
programme.

From Dale Johnson on Twitter
Bit of further information.
Michael Oliver sent referee Andy Madley to the monitor to review
a potential penalty, but also highlighted the potential foul by
Dunk.
So it was an in-the-round review, with the final decision up to
the referee to reject the penalty review.

Sounds like Oliver highlighted the foul when he sent Madley to
the monitor

Interesting. Is Dale Johnson privy to comments /views from
PGMOL, or is this based on what the commentators were able to
hear from the VAR? My understanding was that the TV team are
able to listen to what the VAR says but not the referee.
