       D COOTE - Liverpool v Brighton

Not a good start from Coote when MacAllister was carded for
barely brushing the shoulder of the Brighton winger with his
       arm.
The Gross caution was unlucky too as it was two players going
       for a ball and colliding.

Hands down the worst official we've had at Anfield this season,
his Carabao Cup SF against Fulham was bad and this is up there
with it. As my dad said, it's like he's flipping a coin for
every decision. He's the most unsure, random, unconfident
Referee I've seen at SG1 for a long time.

The Coote experience just not good enough, I'm surprised he
booked Van Hecke he got into the position in front of nunez and
nunez's leg went into him clear foul by nunez based on his
       decision yesterday

Agree there's a debate as to whether the contact merited a foul
or not, personally I didn't think it was a free kick, but once
he's given it the caution is mandatory. Adingra was running
into clear space so it has to be SPA.

Fun fact; here in Ireland on X, the number 1 trending tag under
sports is "David Coote", followed by "Coote", followed by
"PGMOL", ahead of the #LIVBHA tag as well as any other tags,
quite the statement about his performance considering our GAA
league finals are today, as well as our women's rugby team
       playing.

Does he ever have control of the game? It’s no wonder his card
count is so high. As other poster said, totally random guessing
       foul detection

I am sure David Coote is a very good referee. Without a fair
degree of talent no referee (not even one who might have
benefited from being a County FA employee) can make it to the
       top of the pyramid.
But (you knew there was a but), every time I see him in
operation something just does not look right. His decision
making appears to have elements of:
       ~ guesswork;
       ~ yielding to the loudest appeal;
~ seeking the route of least inconvenience.
That does not make any or all of them wrong, but it does mean
that they rarely inspire confidence. It also often looks as if
he is over-anxious - compare with the demeanour of Simon Hooper
who looks to be enjoying himself. I know its a tough gig, but
if one cannot enjoy refereeing in the Premier League perhaps it
might be better all round to do something else?
This is a personal opinion based on what I can see on the TV.
Being there in real life and/or having personal knowledge of Mr.
Coote's state of mind may prove to be different.

I was completely unimpressed by this performance today. His foul
detection seemed at best erratic. The caution for MacAllister
was bizarre, it wasn’t even a foul but the referee saw a player
go down (it was simulation) and gave a free kick then compounded
it by producing a yellow card. There was one incident where the
ball clearly went out for a goal kick but a Brighton player
claimed a corner and a corner was given. That’s what I’d expect
to see in Sunday League football not in “the best league in the
       world” (sic).
I’ve never thought Coote looks comfortable at this level (I have
only seen him at this level to be fair) but he never appears to
be relaxed or fully in control.

I agree with the comment about coote appears to just go with the
loudest shout or whatever is the easiest option.
I think his SFP detection is worst I ever seen in 27 years of
       watching the premier league.
But this crop are nothing compared to the likes of Poll, Webb,
Dean, Clattenburg, Bennett, D’Urso, Mike Reed (from Birmingham)
       * dropped that one in there… but they were great referees, sadly
I accept now we just have average match adjudicators (what I
decided to call referees )with people trying there best, I
commend that, but sadly the art of refereeing is no more, and I
       accept that

I don't think it was a caution, but it certainly wasn't
simulation. The Brighton player kicked full force into Mac
Allister's studs, that was extremely painful back when I played
with proper boots, with the slippers they wear today it is
       really going to hurt.
