David Rock- Crawley Town vs Doncaster Rovers

Mr. Rock had a decent game yesterday. However, his management
of a red card incident was a bit of a concern.
In the 66th minute, Doncaster's Tom Anderson made a bad
challenge. It was late, rather high and with excessive force
It's one of those that looks worse with every viewing, so as a
Donny fan I have no complaints about the red.
After the incident, Crawley had possession and Anderson only
received his Easter gift by the time he was back in his own area
and the ball had gone out of play.
I always understood it was a bad idea to play on when there's a
possibility of Serious Foul Play, and I think Mr. Rock took a
risk in not stopping the game immediately, even though it would
have denied Crawley the advantage (the foul was near half-way,
so it wasn't close to goal.)
I'd be interested to hear people's thoughts on this one.

I saw this on the highlights. I thought he should’ve stopped the
game straight away considering the manner of the challenge.

I agree. A super advantage but not appropriate for a straight
red card offence. Advantage should only be allowed where a goal
is likely to result straightaway, and this did not apply in this
case.

After watching the highlights, I suggest that Rock believed it
to be a cautionable challenge. It may have been comms input that
gave him a different outcome.

I think you are correct. Like TV and I-Follow viewers, David
Rock was looking at the back of Tom Anderson when the latter
made his challenge. The AR, Sean Rothwell, would have the best
view and could see the point of impact and judge the force of
the challenge. It then depends when he advised the referee that
the card should be red. Was it after the ball went out of play?
If so, we can't really blame David Rock for giving the red card
then and not in the immediate aftermath of the foul.
