English Future FIFA Badge Holders

After someone was discussing refs who will probably have a white
badge in the next year or two i wondered who might be next to
withdraw/be removed from the English FIFA referee list as i
believe we currently have our maximum number we can put forward.
At 45 and the joint oldest on the FIFA list from England, and
because and not really moved up through the groups, Craig Pawson
may be the next to drop off the list?
Attwell (41), Madley (40) and England (38), also havnt really
moved much so wonder if they may also be sacrificed maybe not
for 2025 but maybe 2026?
I also wonder whether Anthony Taylor may also at 45 (he will be
approaching 48 by the time the world cup comes round) decide to
give himself a break from the international scene having done
the UEFA Nations League & Super Cup Finals knowing its probably
unlikely he will get to the next WC might move aside and allow
someone younger to take his place?
With Jones doing well and the emergance of Barrott, Bramall and
Josh Smith in the future will be interesting to see what
happens.
Would be interested to know what other people think.

Taking people off ‘early’ to make way for fresh blood (if not
making much headway / no where to go on FIFA ranks) is very new
to England, but far more common elsewhere. At least it’s a nicer
place to be than when we could hardly string 6/7 refs who were
eligible, never mind good enough!!

I have a feeling Pawson will come if at end of 2024 and atwell
go to just a fifa var.I don’t remember him appointed to any sort
of european game as ref or 4O recently

Possibly right but could be whether he’s ready or still
enjoying UEFA games - we need first group refs and all can’t be
elite. That said, must come a time where the travelling /
endless meetings become a bit tedious for the odd UEFA game? Not
sure I’d like being yanked off the list against my wishes to
make way, but equally no one has the right to stay on; you’re
representing the FA and they can nominate annually?

I think there has to be consideration for who would take over
from Taylor and Oliver as England’s representatives at major
tournaments. Taylor probably goes to the Euros and then calls it
a day, Oliver probably calls it a day after the next Euros
(maybe the 2030 World Cup at a push).
For me at the minute Brooks and Barrott are the most likely to
take over at the top, so they need to be prioritised. I’m sure
Kavanagh in the shorter term will be an option when Taylor calls
time.
Obviously there are others coming through from the EFL who will
be an option too depending on how they kick on - Smith (Lewis or
Josh variety), Gill and Bramall (who has obviously been in SG1
for a little while already).
