Samuel Barrott: Wolves v Coventry (FA CUP QF)

Drama at Molineux, excellent from Scott in VAR to wash away the
handball claims as he wasn't 100% certain. Nice to see that the
goal was allowed as he wasn't convinced it hit the arm.
Commentators saying Scott said to Barrott that the camera angles
were inconclusive.
Brilliant end to end game as well, Barrotts performance and
fitness has been exemplary.

Clear YC missed there by Barrott for Semedo, gone to VAR for RC
check, would be harsh, don't know how a FK wasn't given.

That was excellent from Barrott, only error being the one I
noted above. I'd put a bet on that being the greatest distance
covered by a top level ref this season, and he didn't even break
a sweat! Well done Coventry too, an FA Cup fairytale classic.

Fantastic performance from Barrott. If he’s not got a white
badge by the end of next year I’d be very surprised.

Much better, there was a 5 minute spell in the second half where
he seemed to let everything go, including a clear foul and
yellow card for a high boot to O’Hare’s nose! But otherwise very
good.
Correct decision by VAR not to rule out the opening goal, no
clear evidence to overturn although it took way longer than
necessary.

Should have an international badge at the end of this year.
There's a lot of journeymen on the English list who are too old
/ progressed too slowly to ever make the top bracket. Get him
integrated and up the list at the earliest opportunity.

This year would be too early in my opinion. Let him have plenty
of experience in Premier and Championship, including some needle
/ feisty games to "test his mettle" before sending him out into
the international arena.

I think we must remember that FIFA refs start with U21 games,
prelim games in Europa conference in front very few people - he
can easily handle these

We must also remember that the FIFA criteria includes
officiating at the top flight for 2 years

May I ask then how Andy Madley got his badge in January 2020
despite only being promoted to SG1 in the previous August. He
had had trial games the previous 2 seasons though if that makes
a difference?
