I watched the whole game and thought that the officials were
excellent and contributed to a really good spectacle,
particularly for the neutral spectator. Certainly no complaints
from me.
As far as time wasting by keepers is concerned, I regret to say
that the changes made by IFAB as far as taking goal kicks are
concerned does not help the game at all. Keepers can use any
part of the area, defenders are standing close by to receive
that ball and then they all decide that they will go long and
this takes further time. LIkewise with the keeper falling to the
ground to waste more time which is very much a modern thing and
totally unnecessary.

I go for a balanced view. I have often praised refs after a
defeat and occasionally slated a ref after a win. I judge on
performance not the scoreline, decisions as their correctness
within the LOTG not if they were given against or for my team! I
drive those around me mad when they cuss out a ref over a
decision and I'm sat there saying it was a correct call. Last
night he played an absolutely sublime advantage for Luton & I
piped up great advantage to be met with the usual affectionate
eye rolls around me - they are used to it!

To be fair both keepers were at it , after Luton’s final attack
the clock hit 90 plus 9 exactly , as the afcb keeper caught the
ball , he then fell on it ,laid there stood up waved a bit and
finally released the ball at 90 plus 09:34. So it works both
ways , Sam added it all on and played appropriate stoppage time.

An extra minute was added onto the +9 so yes it was noted and
acted on. Fair play for that. The fact I sat there muttering
blow now Sam, blow now Sam continually from about + 5 onwards
shall not be mentioned!

BMB always gives a very fair and balanced view whether her
beloved Bournemouth win lose or draw. She is one of the posters
on the site who I look forward to reading her detailed and
informative match reports

I probably used to but after I first did the assessors course it
has basically ruined watching football simply as a fan for me.
No matter how hard I try to just enjoy a game unfolding as soon
as the whistle goes I am automatically ref watching, their
positioning, their interaction with players, looking for
consistency or not, interactions with the rest of team ref etc.
It's like the sound of the whistle switches on assessor mode and
I can't stop it. Given up even trying to now & accepted I'm
always going to instinctively ref watch not player watch!

It was a fantastic night & nothing to do with the game itself.
I'm on the Cherries Trust and am also one of the Mental Health
First Aiders with Talking Cherries. We did a joint fundraiser to
raise the money for Luton's fans coaches & paid for all 3 run by
the officially recognised travel club. The remaining funds are
going to the British Heart Foundation. We had the MHFA's
stationed at 3 points around the ground, one home fans only and
2 away & home fans, to offer support to anyone feeling a bit
anxious etc. Lots of people stopping to have a chat at all 3
points. The Cherries Trust board members were with the MHFA's -
2 of us are both!! Also with us were members from the team at
Bournemouth Heart Club giving general cardiac health awareness
and advice and in Bar One they also were doing some CPR training
which was just wonderful. Saw a few people walking around with
their certificate of completion - amazing stuff. Ahead of kick
off the medics from the night (minus the wonderful Dr Craig
Roberts) accompanied Tom Lockyer out onto the pitch to a
standing ovation and all 4 sides singing Tom's name. He was the
cover on the program as well as an aside. Half time pitch
presentation with the Cherries Trust, Talking Cherries, Luton
Supporters Trust and board members from both club. Tom was
present for that. Also present was Mark Crowther, a Luton, fan
who rode the 114 miles to the game to raise money for the
British Heart Foundation. He rides to every game and normally
the money he raises goes between 4 charities. Then on 59 mins
there was a minutes applause and standing ovation for the
absolutely amazing medics and again Tom's name was sung by all 4
sides of the ground. Fantastic night & there was the distraction
of a 4-3 thriller of a game happening in between it all!!

Oh dear, so now they're adding time on for incidents while the
ball is in play. I suppose that's easier than enforcing the Law.
Does that mean they can add on time for forwards shepherding the
ball to the corner flag near the end ? The back pass rule,
changed way back, was the biggest single change to enhance the
game. Now a very simple and beneficial change doesn't even
require a Law amendment. Enforce the Law as prescribed.
Sounds like a wonderful occasion and glad the referee
contributed.

In the lead up to the game I got the impression that this match
was different, a celebration of life and I wish it was on TV or
at least the channels I subscribe to.
As someone who struggles with his mental health, it is good to
see support is there. On a broader note, that is not always the
case.

I’m sure we all agree however that it’s never a good start when
the official are wearing yellow in the view of bmb! 😂

But there's a big difference here, is there not? A goalie with
the ball in his hands cannot be challenged, whereas a player
shepherding the

Big difference is surely that a goalie with the ball in his
hands cannot be challenged for the ball, whereas a player
shepherding the ball near the corner flag most certainly can.
Yes, enforce the Laws but, as we've found out a few times this
season at Crewe Alex, adding on time can be as big a deterrent
for time wasting.
