Aston Villa v Tottenham - Chris Kavanagh

Just turned on to see Chris Kavanagh give an excellent RC to
McGinn from Aston Villa. All too often these extremely cynical
and deliberate 'attack' type fouls are given as yellow cards in
the EPL, glad to see it punished correctly.

Much as I'm delighted to see McGinn get a RC as this type of
foul seems to be a part of his game, and otherwise he seems to
spend the majority of matches winding up the opposition and
re-refereeing matches, I also fear this could get overturned on
appeal. Whilst the intent was unsavoury and it was reckless and
cynical, I've seen far worse tackles as yellow cards so feel
Villa will appeal

No way it will be overturned on appeal.
I woud argue it isviolent conduct rather than SFP, as he made no
attempt to play the ball whatsoever.
"kicks or attempts to kick" I assume is still in the LOTG.

As a Villa fan thought Kavanagh and team were superb throughout.
No complaints about the red brandished to Mcginn for his assault
on the spurs player. There is no room for such conduct in our
game.
Liked the way Kavanagh took his time, spoke with his assistant
Ar1 and fourth official via comms before reaching for the back
pocket.
Bad day all around for the Villa, who for some reason just
imploded.
As much as my team will miss their captain, i hope this decision
doesnt get rescinded, if it does it sends out the wrong message.

From the BBC match report:
“John McGinn was dismissed for a reckless tackle”
Aarrgh, one of my pet hates!!!
Very clear red card and a very solid display from the referee.

The BBC have form for this.
I was at a game recently where a player was cautioned for a
laughable dive in the penalty area. The BBC reported it as being
for a bad foul

100% red card for McGinn even after VAR confirmed when McGinn
was walking off his team mate seemed to indicate you deserve it
you lost your head /calm

Good call by Kav, for me it’s violent conduct rather than SFP.
No attempt to play the ball and takes an almighty hack at his
opponent.
