       Gillett always impresses me. Like all referee's you question one
       or two decisions in a game where for example you think was that
       advantage or should it be brought back. However, these people
       have to make an instant decision against a dynamic background
       which must be difficult to perfect but Gillett is better at it
       than most - which is not to denigrate others. I like his
       approach too! Oliver who is arguably our top referee looks
       miserable yet there is subtle empathy with players, helping a
       player up for example.

       I would certainly say Clattenburg was a referee who had a
       rapport with players.
       Incidentally, there was a question about which referees Gary
       Lineker, Alan Shearer and Micah Richards had liked on
       Wednesday's The Rest Is Football Podcast. I think George
       Courtney and Roger Kirkpatrick were two that Lineker/Shearer
       mentioned.
       Richards was very complimentary about Martin Atkinson.
