Not seen it all but looks to have had a very good game.
Excellent game for the neutral.

Consistently gave fouls Newcastle's way. 2 glaringly incorrect
free kick decisions both against Blackburn. Also didn't bring
back play for a foul for Blackburn in the D when no advantage
accrued or should have given the free kick straight off given
where the foul occurred. I wasn't that impressed.

I really like Gillett's style of refereeing. Firm but fair.
IMO he's adapted to the English game really well.

I only watched extra time so cannot comment on specific
incidents, but everything I saw augments my opinion that Gillett
is one of the best refs we have right now.
As mentioned he's firm, not afraid to show cards but also (when
appropriate) has a smile on his face, something some of our
other refs should try and do.

Fully agree with the above. I noted that he was sporting a FIFA
badge. Hopefully not a silly question, but is that for England
or Australia?

Gillett’s FIFA badge is now for England as he had to relinquish
the one he got in Australia.
I didn’t see the game so can’t comment but one thing I will say
is that the Australian is having a very quiet, efficient and
decent second half of the season. You just need to look at his
recent appointments to ascertain that.
As I’ve mentioned before, he operates without fear or favour and
gives what he sees. If that upsets one or two people, hard
cheese!

Seems to be in the Michael Oliver/Howard Webb/Mark Clattenberg
mould in terms of being really good man manager and having a
rapport with the players.

Considering the friendly persona exhibited when he departed from
Australia, I was surprised to see how stern he is with players
in the Premier League.

2013-2019 he was listed as a FIFA ref for Australia and has been
listed as an English FIFA ref since 2023.

I don’t remember Clattenburg having any rapport with players but
