The officials have left themselves down very badly..

I have to agree with the posters on here, very disappointing
performance from Kavanagh so far, in what hasn’t been an easy
game to referee. A lot of clear yellow cards not given, foul
detection has been haphazard at best, and now ruling out a
perfectly good goal for Liverpool.

I think Kavanagh is doing well. As usual, any decision against
Liverpool must involve an agenda. They seemed to forget
Tierney's performance in the league game.

I don’t think it’s been as bad as most are making out, but it’s
also not been impressive from Chris. The only glaring mistake
for me has been not booking Caicedo for the Gravenberch foul
thus far, I also didn’t think it was a needed yellow for
Bradley, but other than that, he’s done fine. Poor intervention
though from the VAR/AVAR for me, not a clear and obvious
interference from Endo to block the Chelsea defender.

Evidence if it was ever needed that VAR has killed modern top
flight football as a spectator sport………and I have no interest in
these competing teams whatsoever.

I really don’t think it has been that bad. But then it depends
on your search for perfection at all times. I guess.
I’m also going be controversial with the Liverpool disallowed
goal. I actually think it’s a good spot. If you’ve got half an
ounce of tactical awareness on a football pitch, then you can
see the Chelsea player who is blocked by a Liverpool player in
an offside position would have been the better side of Virgil
and would have almost certainly won the header, not leaving the
space for the goal to be scored.
There will be arguments that say this happens all the time in
these situations, and, it does happen a lot however, this has a
clear material impact on the situation in my opinion.

That’s a very reasonable assessment, even if I don’t fully agree
with it.
Think there’s a few comments on this thread which aren’t
particularly constructive and are just ref-bashing, to be honest

From what I’ve seen he’s done very well, maybe ‘missed’ some
cautions but the game hasn’t suffered because of it.
The offside Liverpool goal clearly ticks the box for interfering
with an opponent, good intervention from VAR.
Well done all

The issue is consistency why have we suddenly decided on a new
standard in a final on judging offside? I’d say inconsistency to
the rest of the season and game is the biggest complaint
