Man United vs. Fulham - Michael Oliver

Can't be too upset, with a totally deserved winner in 'Fergie
Time' after dominating the match in large spells. The victory
should've been sewn up much earlier but in typical Fulham style,
we always make it hard on ourselves.
Anyway, on to Michael Oliver. He never seems to look like he's
enjoying himself and certainly today seemed to be distant (and
aloof?) from the players. Saying that, he didn't do much wrong
either, allowed the game to flow and any discussions will be
very subjective.
Yellow cards were issued fairly perhaps a tad easily, so on that
basis although it was early in the game, he definitely missed
out on a yellow card for a United player with a late challenge
where an advantage was played. One might also argue that Maguire
was lucky not to see red, or at least be subjected to an OFR for
a nasty foul on Lukic. I didn't see a reply for the Casemiro
head clash with Reed, which although was accidental was late and
potentially reckless and caused a nasty injury to both players.
All in all, he still makes it look easy/easier and justifies his
standing as one of our top refs.

I was surprised Maguire didn’t end up with a review. There was a
lot of force behind it and it caused the leg to buckle.

Dreadful challenge by Maguire and he should have been sent
packing. VAR should be coming in if Oliver in doubt.
Aside from that, the usual Oliver fare this afternoon… only got
involved when needed to.
Aside from refereeing matters… that was a nice victory!

Big Meeks and Ian Wrong on MOTD think it's a yellow, I think
they need their glasses prescription changed!

Sorry, but I don't think it's as clear cut as some are making
out. There was certainly a fair amount of force but the contact
was low, mainly on the boot as far as I could tell.
For me, it was definitely in the orange category. Not a nice
challenge but one of those when whatever colour card the referee
shows, I don't think VAR would intervene.

Pleased for once that the referee decided to ignore Fernandes’
simulation and dissent at full time so that he didn’t get the
yellow card he craved and he’ll have to play at the Etihad next
week.

Yes, there were plenty of posts on social media of Bruno
Fernandes simulation and rolling around under the nose of
Michael Oliver before miraculously getting up again moments
later unharmed and then unexplainedly berating Oliver after the
final whistle. Both were more than worthy of a yellow card, but
do you really think he was trying to dodge playing next week?
If so, totally unforgiveable as captain.

As far as Fernandes goes, as the dark destroyer on the chase
says, just another day at the office😂😂
