S ATTWELL - Sheff U v Brighton

Holgate has to go for that challenge. Not sure how Attwell
hasn’t given a red on the field for that but Michael Oliver
correct to come in on VAR and recommend a review.
A disgusting challenge worthy of a red.
Not sure how the Sheff U fans can shout “you don’t know what
your doing”.

For a very brief moment I thought he wasn’t even giving a foul!
Can only assume he was blindsided/blocked as it’s as nailed on a
red as you will see.

Ps: glad Mitoma has managed to walk away from that unharmed.

Very bad from Attwell to not see that as a straight red tackle,
the slight delay made me feel he didn’t have seen the tackle and
went more with reaction.
Well done Oliver for making the process easy and telling
Attwell, but again another PL referee not making a big straight
red decision and going with yellow.
Surely Webb and his team should be finding this a concern ?

I don't think he saw it at all, probably had his view blocked.
Play carried on initially so can only assume the AR on that side
was in his ear.

Game getting very tetchy and physical now.
Attwell does tend to struggle in these types of encounters but
he isnt the only one in sg1.
Not sure he saw the Holgate challenge, but there is a worrying
trend for sg1 officials to go yellow when sfp occurs something i
have felt for a few years now.
Very good and quick intervention by Oliver on var.
Hope the second half calms down and goes well for Attwell.

One of those that is very difficult as a referee, when it
happens on blindside as well as several players in the vicinity.
Impossible to see the point of contact. This is where VAR works
well.
Not sure what has happened with the 2nd var check. I don’t think
there is a foul there (as sky sports seem to be suggesting).
Maybe offside but not sure what Oliver has called him across for

Bit of a dog’s dinner from Attwell as usual. Correct decision
for the Sheff U disallowed goal thanks to VAR. I don’t know what
he was penalising initially (holding the GK, handball?) but
there clearly wasn’t anything to see. Good use of the monitor
for the subjective offside but giving the TV hand signal was
slightly confusing (I know technically the decision changed from
being a foul to being offside, but same end result…)
Every game I see this guy referee seems to get out of hand or be
right on the edge. i think he’s fortunate to have developed his
reputation as a “trusted” VAR as otherwise I see him as one of
the weaker SG1 officials on the field.

Looking at the replay how is it offside it comes off a Brighton
player. All very confusing

Deemed not a deliberate action, so the last touch for
determining offside will be when it came off the SU player’s
upper arm
