Question re officials not from the English mainland

With Jersey being involved in the FA Vase and also guernsey and
the Isle of Man having teams at semi pro levels. Does anyone
know if there are any officials operating at level 4 and above
from the Channel Islands or the IOM?

Not when I was in Jersey (2006-2010). The highest level that
officials could achieve was Level 5. I don't know if that
remains the case, but the highest "ranked" offshore football
team is Guernsey FC who are in the lower level of the Isthmian
League (Step 4?).

There is at least one L4 who lives on the IOM.

Maybe a silly question but if they want to progress above Level
4 do they have to move to the mainland to do so? Or at least
travel back & forth? They'd keep their same level I presume?

Good luck to the FA restricting promotion due to Geography. They
must tread carefully I would suggest.

Don't think it is restricting, rather practicalities. There are
no contrib teams and only one supply league team, so are
referees on the Channel Islands realistically going to want to
be L4 knowing they will need to travel to England every Saturday
and most midweeks? Presumably at their own expense as the clubs
certainly wouldn't be willing to pay.

Quite. Both Jersey Bulls and Guernsey FC (**) already have to
pay the travelling expenses of the match officials and the
opponents for home games. They also have to fund their own
travel for away games - which - for midweek games also requires
an overnight stay as both Channel Islands airports close at 9pm.
There is no appetite to pay for match officials to referee /
line on the mainland.
** - I presume its the same for Isle of Man FC in the North West
Counties League.
