Craig Pawson West Ham vs Arsenal

A really easy game for Craig to referee with my team hammering
West Ham sorry about the pin it had to be done, no qualms with
him as there was no real flashpoints for him to defuse, our
penalty was stone wall, my only gripe is and it has nothing to
do with Craig is the VAR decision checking the offside for our
penalty, not quite sure it needed to take that long as within
seconds you could see Saka was onside, and 2 maybe 3 players
were playing him on, but a very easy game to manage even though
it was a London derby and will be happy to have Craig on more of
our games

Agree with the above, a pretty comfortable outing for the
officiating team. My only gripe was on the penalty, i’m not sure
Craig ever pointed to the spot so was very difficult to work out
if he was booking Areola or Saka (I was watching with no sound
so not sure if the comms said anything). But a clear point to
the penalty spot would have been better!

I was about to post exactly the same thing. Weak signalling is
something I often notice when watching Pawson. A lower level
official would definitely be pulled up for it.

Was the yellow card for the West Ham goal-keeper correct? Very
hard to assert that was an attempt to play the ball. When the
goal-keeper made contact the ball was several yards beyond him.
By Law that should have been a red card.

Dermot Gallagher appeared to assert exactly that on Sky
yesterday and agreed with the decision. However the ball and
Saka were also moving in a direction that would have
significantly narrowed the angle for any subsequent shot with a
defender moving round to take a position on the goal line.
There didn't appear to be any great argument by the players for
a red card.
