Rob Jones. Aston Villa v Manchester United

I’ll be honest and say that Mr Jones is not one of my favourite
officials. He had a reasonable start and then his foul detection
which I believe is very poor has let him down again. The free
kick he gave for Rashford, no foul, no contact and a dive. From
the free kick Casemiro is in an offside position and definitely
attempts to head the ball. Deemed not interfering. Goal scored.
Be interested in what the pundits say at half time. It’s about
time they started stamping down on divers because whilst
Rashford is constantly diving he is not alone as most teams have
them. Just before I post. Two clear fouls missed by the ref and
the crowd are now justifiably singing their opinion of the ref.

Casemiro should have been off there booked for the foul and then
dissent

Casemiro carded for a foul which looks like he didn’t make
contact.
Not a good half for Jones and very disappointing following his
excellent show at Plymouth midweek.

His reaction was as bad as the Dan Neil 2nd yellow v
Middlesbrough that everyone here said was a correct decision

If you want to go down the road of what the referee "should"
have done - then the correct decision was not to give the foul
in the first place.

An incorrect decision does not negate dissent nor make it ok ,
by that standard it’s ok to abuse any referee if they have got
it wrong and receive no sanction?

At no point have I said that it does. The OP was stating Jones
"should have" sent Casemiro off. Firstly, I don't believe
Casemiro's dissent was in anyway worthy of a card. But the
general point I was trying to make is that it is very easy to
say the referee should have done this and should have done that.
We all like to referee the game perfectly with the benefit of
hindsight.
If you were to replay that incident and referee it "perfectly"
then the free kick would not have been awarded to begin with.

I think Ar2 Richard West had a hand in the foul being given
against Casemiro. Dissent by a player immy after receiving a
yellow card rarely gets punished a bit like goalkeepers time
wasting after receiving a yellow.
Jones tried to let the game flow, a few random foul detections
but a reasonably competent performance overall, from my point of
view pity my teams attackers werent as competent.
