Anthony Taylor - Forest v Newcastle

Didn’t watch it live but by all accounts an entertaining game.
Much of the talk seems to be about a penalty call in the second
half. Not given on field, no review recommended.
Having only seen it once, Newcastle look like they got away with
that.

I would say it goes in the i have seen them given category and
by Taylor, but doubt var would intervene even if he had given
it.
Thought Taylor had a pretty good game overall, he did miss a
foul/yellow for Yates but also played a good advantage for an
attack.

As with the Liverpool v Newcastle game where he did give a
penalty yet again he was too far away from the incident.

When I saw the replay I was surprised VAR didn't intervene
because to me it was a clear foul by the GK.
Even Dermot, as well as the 2 pundits thought it was a penalty.
The issue for me in this situation is what the referee actually
sees. If the protocol is for VAR to ask the referee what he
saw, and Anthony Taylor says he had a decent view and didn't
think it was a penalty, is VAR going to re-referee the incident?
If the referee says he didn't have a clear view or a good
angle, then it's a different matter. If the latter was the case,
I don't understand how VAR could not recommend an OFR. Or is it
a symptom of a less experienced colleague not wishing to
override a FIFA elite referee by telling him he got it wrong?

Surely the referee tells the var what he saw and then if the
referee didnt see the arm movement of Dubravka then the var
should ask him if he has seen it. If the referee sees the arm
movement of Dubravka but doesnt think it worthy of a penalty
kick then is it clear and obvious?
Taylor does seem to have a habit of giving what one would
consider soft penalties but not give them when more force is
involved, an opinion i am sure many will disagree with.

Whoever VAR is don’t like sending Anthony Taylor to the
monitor!! It got until November before Michael Oliver was told
to go the monitor. Common theme here.
For me, clear errors made Wolves-Newcastle, Forest-Brighton,
Villa-Sheffield, Liverpool-Newcastle, Chelsea-Fulham,
Forest-Newcastle that were commonly agreed as incorrect from
memory. Yet in none of those instances was Taylor sent to the
monitor. Mistakes on field have always and will always happen.
With VAR, there should be only subjective ones. Asking him to
at least have a look would be a start!! He must have known it
was at least an iffy one on Awoniyi, surely he said “have a look
at that, might be a foul”.
Not good enough from those operating VAR, nor Taylor.

I have said this before on a previous post earlier in the
season, Taylor never get's sent to the monitor or actually does
VAR also think this is coincidental as well

I have said this before on a previous post earlier in the
season, Taylor never get's sent to the monitor or actually does
VAR also think this is coincidental as well

From what I have heard, Taylor exempted himself from VAR as he
simply doesn't like doing it.
PGMOL officials I have spoken to reference some may not enjoy it
but are good at it, others such as Oliver apparently have a
proclivity towards it.

Whether he likes it or dislikes it, it shouldn’t matter and he
shouldn’t be exempt he is one of our 2 top officials in the
country and no other official has refused to do it so Taylor
shouldn’t be exempt whether he dislikes it or not

Like all officials the option not to do it was offered
