Whilst this fixture could be probably classed as a
"run-of-the-mill" appointment, it is actually quite prestigious,
as Mr Robinson will referee in front of the largest League crowd
at Anfield since Major Fred C Green (Wolverhampton) took charge
of Liverpool v Chelsea on 27th December 1949!
(Major Green's only other Liverpool match was Chelsea v
Liverpool.....on 26th December 1949!!)

Massive game for Kavanagh at Luton, and a decent fourth
official appointment for Lewis Smith.
Bankes hasn’t been around for a bit in the middle, plus Josh
Smith has disappeared too.
Big game for Rob Jones at the Villa too.

Attwell as well has been used sparingly since Xmas. Nothing for
Tierney or Gillett

Back to back fixtures on two consecutive days ? ! They were
tough men in those days. None of this complaining about not
having sufficient rest days in between matches.
