A big derby match for Neil Hair at the top of L2, Stockport v
Crewe. I won't get to see Martin Coy this week, his 2nd visit of
the season to Crewe Alex.

SG2 Tom Nield for us at Harrogate on Saturday, last time we had
him (or I saw him at least) he was pretty poor but hes had a
promotion and a playoff final since then so should be a solid
appointment. Then a regular sighting of Carl Brook at home on
Tuesday, usually a reliable referee and a common visitor to the
Jobserve. Between him and Sam Purkiss, it feels like they
referee half our home games!

A general question around 4O appointments for someone who may be
in the know....how are these appointed, is there any logic
behind them such as perceived importance of game, distance of 4o
to home team etc etc?
For example the important looking L2 1st v 5th as it stands
Stockport v Crewe game on Tues 13th has non NL referee Richard
Eley as 4O whereas the less important/bang mid-table (14th v
15th) at Crawley v Walsall has Sam Purkiss as 4O.

This clearly true but I wonder what the rationale is ? The only
thing I can think of is that the reason SG2 officials have been
appointed is that the match has been identified as having the
potential to be difficult and so a more experienced 4th official
is appointed.
