WHU v AFCB - Tim Robinson

Most importantly of course he wore black!
Decent game of football overall & enhanced by a decent referee
performance. Penalty for WHU after VAR review - correct call &
no complaints. I doubt Tim would have been able to see the kick
that accompanied the hand on the shoulder in real time due to
the number of bodies about. Bookings all looked spot on for both
teams and I don't feel like he missed any. One flag from Adam
Nunn in the first half took forever and a day - I know they are
told to hold back but Solanke was in an offside position, ball
fell to someone else, shot was either saved or rebounded and
then another attack happened and that's when the flag finally
went up. Felt that one was delayed too long but it's hardly the
worst call in the world and as that's all I have to complain
about then team ref had a decent night at the office. They can
go home with their heads held high. I love having Tim ref us,
such a happy smiley person & his rapport with both sets of
       players is always superb.
As for my team, we need to learn to be more clinical. Should
have been 3-0 up at half time but wasted chances galore. WHU
stronger 2nd half. It cost us the game because had we taken our
chances the stupid pen we gave away would not have cost us 2
       points.

Bmb, I've noticed that you seem to get really lucky in that most
of the games you watch are matched by a good refereeing
       performance!

I suspect we’re helped in that regard because we are not a team
that employs too many of the dark arts. Not saying we’re total
angels because we’re not but it’s the exception rather than the
norm and I’m sure we all know that when teams simply get on and
play it allows refs to get on and referee and they make less
errors because they don’t have 22 players trying to con
       decisions out of them.

NO blame attached for Tim for the pen from his position but I
would be asking my linesman for help there. He’s 15 yards away
       looking right at it

Not necessarily. His primary role is to watch for offsides so
whilst he may well appeared to be looking in that general
direction his focus may well have been on whoever the last
       defender was at the time.

He can’t just be looking at the last defender. He has to also be
looking at whoever has the ball (in this case the player fouled)
so as to know if/when the ball was played.
It is surprising if he didn’t feel it was a foul from where he
was but we don’t know he didn’t. He may well have been saying
penalty but the referee wasn’t interested.
