Good opening half. Both yellows were correct.tierney took a bit
long with the first offside as it looked fairly obvious.

Very poor by gillett and worse by tierney.tierney was literally
ref last night where van dijk was more of a pen

I think Gillett has been excellent the penalty was supportable
it was identical to the one Martial was awarded against
       Newcastle I think it was

Tierney cannot give that having not given penalties to Gallagher
       and Nkunku last night.
       The whole thing is indefensible.

You do know that you can't compare a decision by the referee on
the field to the way the same referee acts as VAR. For me, I
obviously has a large part of bias as you can see but anyway,
the penalty shout for Gallagher was correctly waved away but it
was a missed penalty (and intervention by VAR) on the Nkunku
one. In this case, correct by VAR to support according to
protocol, but I personally wouldn't be against a more "open" use
of the system in this specific case considering the difficulty
in determining impact of the contact.

This is where there is a total misunderstanding of the VAR
protocol. The penalty tonight was more than supportable, it
might be deemed soft, but there is no way VAR can get involved.
The two for Chelsea last night were similar, the first one I
thought wasn't even close to being a penalty, the second I
thought probably was but it wasn't a clear and obvious error to
       not give it.
You can't compare a referee making decisions on the pitch last
night to him sitting in VAR tonight, they are two totally
different things. And if you think that decisions made last
night should influence VAR decisions tonight then I'm afraid you
are way off the mark in terms of understanding how VAR works.

As a fan I find VAR to be ridiculous. It was sold to fans on a
lie. It makes things seem *more* unfair because we lose the
ability to celebrate yet all we have done is add an extra layer
of subjectivity whereby any reason is looked for to support a
decision by an official (Jota’s dive a few weeks ago springs to
mind) yet much clearer fouls are ignored for the same reason of
supporting a decision. It’s a flawed and unfair system.
We lose so much when attending a game as a fan - unable to
celebrate a goal properly, monumental inconsistencies, no
clarity as to what is actually going on, replays not shown etc -
and it has fundamentally failed as a concept. This was entirely
predictable for any subjective decisions, and I was vehemently
against it for precisely those reasons.

I'm still trying to convince myself there was actually contact
for the penalty and understand why there was a just a slight
delay before the Wolves player fell to the ground. That apart,
no problem with Gillett whose YCs were correct, especially the
one to Casemiro for that stupid foul (all too typical I'm
afraid) in the second minute. The only surprise was he managed
       to avoid a second YC.
