Looks like an interesting afternoon for Craig Hicks - exhibiting
skills that might spawn a new career in Rugby Union as a tricky
winger.
In all seriousness though - where is security that allowed said
fan to get all the way across the field to attempt to confront
him. If it wasn’t for both benches getting in there ultimately -
it could have ended quite nastily.

You have to love(!) the way the players just stood there
watching and did absolutely nothing to help. They should all
also be suspended for a game or 2...
Hope the 'fan' and I use the term loosely is banned from all
footballing activities for life.

Perhaps the idiotic "jobsworth" action of David Spain some years

Really? Exactly your thoughts?
I would suggest that it is 99.99% certain that none of them
would have ever heard of the incident you refer to and 99.99%
certain that the 0.01% who maybe did weren’t actively thinking
about it while todays disgrace took place.
Much more likely they just didn’t care??

I also doubt that they will be aware of that specific incident
but it is far more likely that they are told to never to get
involved with pitch invaders as there is a potential to be
dismissed for violent conduct.

Most disturbing thing here is that apart from in the last two
seconds of the clip you don’t see a steward anywhere and the one
we do just strolls casually to the incident.

Mr Spain was the referee who sent the Dorchester Town
player-manager off for rugby tackling a pitch invader.
While not on all fours with the dreadful incident at Vale Park
today, I have heard similar to SuffolkRef about advice given to
players in such situations.
