A very ok performance from Tom yesterday in which were played in
horrible conditions. He booked our #10 on 9 mins for a simple
pull back on the half way line. Then, Barrow do the exact same
thing to our #7 but much more in a promising position, yet he
doesn’t caution him? How there was 7 yellow cards in a
positively-played game I don’t know. The only challenge that
deserved a yellow was our #5’s and one of their guys to which
went unpunished. One of the things I praised him for was his
rapport. You could clearly see him talking to captains and
players throughout the game. 8 mins added second half…. Why? Not
many stoppages, just 2 goals and a bunch of subs. 6 plenty for
me.

Brief highlights would suggest Alan Young did not complete the
full 90 minutes

Confirmed on Burton’s Twitter that Young was replaced near the
end. No indication as to what the issue was

Adam Herczeg has taken a blow to the head, having to be replaced
and Wigan looked for a referee to which they found one. 19 mins
of added time to be played! Speedy recovery, Adam 👍

According to Bradford twitter, in the second half there was only
2 minutes of added time by referee Scott Oldham. This seems very
little - did he want to get out the storm or something? Only
subs happened in the second half, however you would think at
least 5 mins for additional time considering each sub is around
30 seconds…?

Some refs give 30 secs for subs, others 20 secs especially if
they were done quickly with no faffing about. If he gave 20 secs
then that's 1 min 40 secs and 30 secs would be 2.5 mins so 2
mins is as expected. 5 mins you'd be giving 1 min per sub.

Generally somewhere around 8-10 mins second half stoppage time
is the norm this season in the EFL so I'd say 20-30 seconds
allowed per sub would be very very short.
It would be nearer the 1 minute mark per sub stoppage from
experience this season, especially with EFL referees appearing
generally stricter on this and other 'delaying the game'
stoppages than their PL refereeing colleagues.

In my experience, it’s quite a bit less than that, I don’t feel
we often get more than 6 minutes now, it’s just reverted back to
type. I had a quick look back at our last 6 games as a sample
size and in fact we’ve had:
First Half:
0 min x 1
1 min x 2
3 min x 1
4 min x 2
Second Half:
4 mins x 3
5 mins x 2
6 min x 1
I personally feel that the emphasis on time management ended by
October time, which is a shame, I liked that officials seemed to
be doing a great job of accounting for stoppages/delays

There should be no x minutes per substitution allowance. Each
one ought to be timed accurately according to the current
guidance.
