My pre assumptions of Scott Simpson were well off the mark -
albeit a fairly uneventful game, but no cards at all I think.
Could have been one in the second half for breaking up a counter
but I think you can justify no card, wasn’t a clear one. No
complaints for Scott and team at all, did everything they needed
to do and put in a very good showing.

Darren Drysdale for Rovers v Milton Keynes yesterday.
I don't warm to Mr Drysdale, as he seems to project an arrogant
persona when refereeing. However, thought he got most things
correct in this match. He seemed to let a lot go, there were two
possible fouls on Rovers players before the award of a corner
leading to the late Milton Keynes winner, but it was consistent
with his approach throughout the game. One good piece of
teamwork, in blowing up for a foul involving an elbow, where he
consulted with his 4O before deciding a free-kick was sufficient
sanction.
There was an incident after the literal last minute winner,
where someone from the Milton Keynes bench apparently
threw/squirted water into the home Paddock, with an unsurprising
reaction from the home fans and police involvement. Though have
also seen a suggestion it was a response to something done by
the fans behind the bench. Mr Drysdale didn't take any action at
the time, perhaps unable to see the incident, but hopefully will
feature in his match report.

Firstly, best wishes to the fan taken ill at Bolton and secondly
I hope a solution can be found to the issues at Reading as it
feels like the beginning of the end for a former Premier League
club.

Sadly, it has been confirmed that Bolton fan Iain Purslow, 71,
passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest in the 29th minute
of the match between Bolton and Cheltenham.

Carlisle United (First Team) v Oxford United (First Team)
Football League 1
Referee: Miles, Jacob
Assistant Referee: Woodward, Daniel
Assistant Referee: Edet, Emmanuel
Fourth Official: Clayton, Simon [/quote]
Unfortunately, there’s been allegations of racism directed
towards one of the assistants. Carlisle, along with police, are
investigating - hopefully a swift and severe punishment is
enforced to anyone involved.
Edited to fix quote thingamajigga, bmb.

This behaviour from a minority of absolute knuckleheads seems,
regretfully, to be getting more common these days.
I hope the perpetrators of this disgusting abuse are swiftly
brought to justice and banned for life from every single ground.

Hope he feels the full weight of the law and is banned from any
football related activities for life.
Poor AR has only just been promoted - welcome to the football
league... Hope someone is giving him any support he may need.

We’ve already had notice from Salford about the concerns over
the game going ahead with over 3 and a half days to go. Could be
a short fixture by Saturday lunchtime. I’m sure Kirsty Dowle
wouldn’t mind avoiding refereeing 2 games in less than 48 hours!

While the early warning is commendable, I feel you may be a
little premature with the suggestion of a much shortened fixture
list.
The temperatures in most parts are forecast to be above freezing
from around Thursday morning/lunchtime, so at least 48 hours
before the Saturday 3pm kick offs, getting up to the almost
tropical daytime temps of 4-6 degrees Thu/Fri/Sat, giving ample
time for any frost to come of the ground.
If that forecast is correct, I'd expect very few EFL games to be
called off at the weekend, especially as a lot of clubs have
frost covers which can protect down to around -3 anyway.

Agreed, and 'egg on the face' comes to mind. On the other hand,
there are warnings of gales for Sunday, and fans of a certain PL
team on the South coast and those from Merseside may want to
take note! You heard it here first.
