Gayle has been charged by the FA for 'successful deception of a
match official' which will probably lead to a two match ban.
That will be no consolation to Forest who were deprived of two
points by Gayle's cheating and of course Mason's failure to spot
and deal with it, nor indeed to other clubs seeking promotion at
the end of the season who may be disadvantaged by WBA's extra
two points gained by the deception. Perhaps a points deduction
might be more appropriate.

Haven't seen the match action yet, but it sounds like Mr Mason
may have erred in failing to showa red card to Mansfield's Ben
Turner for a last man foul in the Notts derby.

The law on DOGSO has changed so they're not always a red. I
doubt pundits & the media are aware of that yet & time they are
the Laws will have changed again! Only saying that because if
you are going purely on media talk then what they consider a ref
error and what the LOTG consider a ref error are often poles
apart! Not seen it either but I tend to take no notice of
managers/pundits & press views!

The bit of footage I've managed to see wasn't clear enough to be
certain whether it ought to have been a red card.

Typical Pulis made no mention of the two very good penalty
shouts . Sheffield should have been awarded at least one of them
for blatant fouls in the box . especially when the attacker was
wrestled to the floor. Boro were second best as was Pulis though
the referee was definately not the job

Thought it was a draw but I get the general point.
Retrospectively chalking off the goal would be good .......but,
I guess, impractical.

I think the dive by Gayle was so blatant that any half-decent
referee should have spotted it. It was so bad, Gayle may as
well have worn a rubber cap and goggles!
My solution would also be a points deduction as well as a
suspension for the player. So in this case WBA gained an extra
point for a draw instead of a defeat, so should be deducted two
points (1+1). Had the penalty been a winner, the deduction
would be 3 (2+1). If the result was unaffected then a single
point would be deducted.
This may sound rather draconian, but sure as hell it would cure
the problem overnight. Will anyone ever have the guts to
implement something like this? Not a chance!

Love this idea! Sadly shareholders would never allow any FA to
dare try it!
In terms of the player suspension, I'd go for 3 matches for 1st
offence and double it for any further stupidity! 6 matches, then
12, then 24!
I think it would only take at most 6 bans before you saw diving
disappear overnight as the consequences would make it very
unworthwhile!
