You seem to have forgottten that Charlie Taylor, the Burnley
left back, injured his shoulder and the physios came on and it
took almost 2 minutes for treatment and eventual removal. They
were then not allowed to bring a sub on for him, although one
was ready.
Spurs scored a goals and iy was almost one and half minutes
before the game restarted. Spurs also got a free kick late on
that three players addressed the ball but then left it for
another.
7 minutes were about right as far as I could see. One thing that
struck me on tonight's match was the fact that so many Spurs
players fall over for absolutely nothing, just the same as so
many other Premier League players.
Sam Barrott refereed very well indeed as he has done in the
other matches I have seen him referee this season.

Another initial post where too much stoppage time played and a
few moments later after totting things up the poster get to a
very similar time to what was added on.
I totally agree with you Ashington46.
There were many stoppages in play for var checks, said time is
still added if no onfield review is required.

Appalling inconsistency!!
It does seem that people can just come on here and say what they
like. I bet if you did the washing up 50 times you’d do it
differently 50 times. And that’s easier to do than making
decisions in a fast pace game whilst trying to take into account
every so called similar decision that has ever been made in the
past.

My point is, they have VAR and come to a completely different
decision on the same incident. It is virtually identical in
fact as an incident. Neither should be penalties, so why was
last week’s one given??!!

You cannot have the same incident occur in one match never mind
stretching over two games, you may however have similar
incidents.
On another note can we have the referees name spelt correctly in
the subject bar please?

Why weren't Burnley allowed to make the substitution given that
the sub was ready to come on? There are plenty of instances
where subs are allowed after injured players have received
treatment but have to come off.

Not necessarily. Some things are the same for example a headbutt
is a headbutt and a punch is a punch. Okay when it comes to
things like contact then yeah there will always be differences
as one referee will see it one way and one won't which is why
people get frustrated with VAR as they'll get involved one week
and won't the next for the same incident.

I'm saying that's why people get frustrated by VAR. I try and
look at incidents on there own merit but also do take in to
account decisions that have happened before when making my mind
up about a decision.

things into account can’t be combined. If you’re doing one you
can’t be doing the other.

Until by taking something on it’s merit you go red card but by
taking other incidents into account you come up with a yellow
card.
Interesting to see how that would work?

Luckily for you i will never be a referee. Just someone who
watches a match and tends to keep an eye on the referee when
watching the match.

Has it ever happened before where a referee gets the white badge
in their first season as sg1?I wouldn’t be surprised if Sam had
one this time next year.

I was at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this evening and I
thought Sam Barrott had an excellent match. He is fit and always
in a credible position to give a decision, he didn't fall for
any theatricals by either side and I noticed he calmly
intervened to diffuse any little trouble areas before they blew
up into something major. His rapport with the players seemed to
be very good. I believe this guy is a referee bursting with
natural talent and it's his demeanour on the pitch which is so
impressive. Of course he still has much to learn about the craft
of officiating but I am quite convinced he will be one of the
very senior and well respected referees of his generation in
just a few years time.
As I have mentioned before, there certainly is something about
his style which puts me in mind of Joe Worrall. The highest
praise I can bestow.

I thought Sam Barrott had a good game but he was lucky nothing
of significance occurred when he allowed the game to restart
half way through the Burnley substitution. Mr Kompany was
understandably not happy.

Because they wanted to make a triple change and the other subs
weren't ready. Because they only get 3 sub windows they aren't
going to send Taylor's replacement on and then make the other
two changes a minute later.

Talking on the telephone this weekend with an old university
friend and telling him about the extraordinary and wonderful new
Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, he reminded me of a time we, as
students, went together to the old White Hart Lane which I
realised was the last evening Spurs home match I had attended.
It was in the mid 1970s, probably either 1975 or 1976 and Spurs'
opponents were West Ham United. The ground was heaving. I can't
remember whether it was a League or Cup match ( a vague bell
says it might have been a replay ). Perhaps one of our stats.
sleuths can tell me. However, I do remember who the referee was.
That night it was Malcolm Sinclair ( Guildford ) and then nearly
fifty years later Sam Barrott whose only watchstrap on display
was worn on the wrist !
