FWIW, I didn't think it was a penalty. Purely from the pov that
initially I thought it definitely was, then there was an angle
that I thought it definitely wasn't a pen, and then another
where I thought, oh actually it possibly could be. So much
ambiguity and uncertainty surely meant that Jarred Gillett could
not comfortably reach the mark of it being a clear and obvious
error.
I also thought the advantage for the Wood goal was insane. The
crouching down, holding the whistle told everyone watching he
was blowing, he was ready, then he put his arm out and Wood
bagged it. Such a great example of delaying the whistle until
the absolute last second. ( SIMON HOOPER ARE YOU WATCHING? )

Also, notable mention to Si for the great non offside flag when
I think everyone in the stadium and watching at home thought it
was offside. I agree with other posters and agree that this is
really shaping up to be the PL dream team atm.
Just wondering wishfully for the end of the season and if Kav is
line for FAC Final this year, would that preclude Simon from
being included in the Final team?

No i doubt it, I imagine either they will bring back Sian Massey
Ellis to do it with Kav, or Mainwaring (although i believe he
cannot officiate the Manchester clubs)

Saw the highlights and think it’s a penalty, whether it’s soft
it’s still a penalty.
Outstanding advantages for 2 of forests goals
Would like to know what has happened between the Oliver, Burt
and Bennett but think Dan Cook deserves to be in the top elite
team that we have to offer
Definitely think Kavanagh is in the top three officials this
season and should definitely get the fa cup final, think it will
be Dan Robathan and James Mainwaring joining him as Bennet
surely can’t do it 3 times

I can't really think of a more likely candidate for the FA Cup
final at the moment. Attwell's not had it yet but I think most
RTR users would say Kavanagh's had the better season, and all
the other realistic candidates I can think of are less
experienced than Kavanagh so there's no real reason to think
they'd get it ahead of him.

It's a charming notion to think that the honour of refereeing
the FA Cup Final goes to the best performing referee, who has
not yet received the appointment. However, history and
experience show that a somewhat different criterion is usually
employed which is Buggins turn or whoever happens to be in
favour. The season is nowhere near its conclusion and a lot may
yet happen in terms of refereeing fortunes but I would agree
that Chris Kavanagh is a most worthy candidate. However, I think
it might very well be Attwell's turn this season unless the
relinquishing of FIFA badges trumps all else and Coote or Bankes
get the nod.

this year either!

And talking of such predictions, I wonder what odds one would
get now on Rebecca Welch being the first woman to referee a
Men's F A Cup Final ? I might enquire. Could be worth a wager of
a few bob, always presuming one was spared to collect one's
winnings.
