Aston Villa vs. Sheffield United, Anthony Taylor

Very challenging 1H with numerous penalty area incidents (I
counted five!) to solve as well as Sheffield United 'pulling out
all the stops' in an away performance.
Overall Taylor is doing fine, imo (and VMOs correct not to
intervene in any of the 'episodes').

Absolutely ridiculous intervention from Brooks. Re refereeing
the game. Completely different phase of play. It does look like
a foul, however they got the ball back and made their own error
which led to the goal.

was it a different phase or potential penalty??

That one was well-solved imo but the decision not to award/intv
for an Aston Villa penalty for handball is incredible there?!
How on earth can they hide behind the 't-shirt line' (which they
misunderstand!) to defend that; was volleyball-like...

Sorry, I just want to underline this - it is an armpit line,
IFAB's graphic is very clear, and not this 't-shirt line' which
PGMOL instruct with (right?).
This fundamental(!!) lack of understanding has contributed to a
very big mistake tonight :/.

Interesting that in the lead up to the Villa goal, there was a
head injury which the referee judged to be faked.

You're listening too much to the commentators, there's no
concept of different phase of play for VAR. They can go back to
anything in the APP (attacking phase of play), given Sheffield
United barely got the ball out of their penalty area that
certainly wasn't over.
