Caicedo should have been sent off.
Another to add to the Guimaraes collection of scandalous
tackles, incredibly wild kick out at Maatsen. Should have been a
red.

Guimaraes premeditated assault on Maatsen here.

Its very worrying that one of our better officials cant see a
red card offence in front of him on the field for two games in a
row.
I guess its just rinse and repeat.

It seemed a bit odd that the Sky pundits were saying how the
game showed you didn't need VAR etc whilst at the same time
complaining about a missed red card.
I do think VAR should be used from at least the QF stage.

Poor from Gillett last night.
Caicedo should have walked after 90 seconds.
Colwill should have gone for a poor tackle just before half
time.
Wilson should have had a second booking for dissent.
Gallagher should have been booked for diving, which would have
seen him sent off for a second booking later in the game, unless
Gillett would have then treated that incident differently.
The pundits somehow concluded we don’t need VAR though.
The Caicedo one is the worst and most consequential though.
Newcastle should have had 88.5 mins against 10 men. However,
they ended up with another injured player and without the
advantage they should have gained from the red card.

Are you excusing Guimaraes which referees seem to do quite
regularly?

Just a robust challenge, however, why is Maatsen holding his
face when the challenge was body to body and nothing more.
I can only think that, with the large number of players doing
this when they are touched , it is being coached into them in an
effort to con the officials in one way or another.

Thats the fourth red card that Jarred Gillett has missed in his
last 4 games as a referee/ VAR. One was corrected after an OFR.
Really poor from someone who many on RTR consider one of our
better officials
