M Dean - Manchester City vs Chelsea

I thought he had a great game. He let the game flow early on and
sanctioned when appropriate. I thought his positioning was
excellent, especially when he was getting really close to the
players in the corners. It made "selling" the decisions that bit
       easier.
When Jorginho fouled Fernandinho and there seemed to be a little
bite in the air from Chelsea, I wondered if the coveted 100th RC
might have made an appearance, but I think Dean should be
applauded for the way he kept a lid on it, whilst still letting
       the game flow.

A Mike Dean Masterclass IMO , great to see him hide the ball at
up back of his shirt at full time then hand it to Aguero with a
smile sums up Mike Dean’s personality

.... and the dramatic pointing at the penalty spot. Both are
pictured in today's Times. AFCB v Wolves for the 100, with Roger
       East as 4O? ;D

And with Nigel Owens on the England v France game, two
       masterclasses on how to referee.

I've said it before but I think he has been the best SG1 referee
this season. Presumably the authorities think he is up there
given he is getting top games into his 50s, long may it
       continue.
If I was being picky the only slight criticism would be that
David Luiz should have had a caution in the first half for a
       very cynical challenge. Minor though.

Mike Dean has been exceptional for years and continues to prove
any doubters wrong. One of our finest for sure. He’s really
grown into his on pitch personality over the years for me.

I may have contributed this point before but when Mike Dean was
starting out on his FL career, Lennie Lawrence himself not a
noted devotee of the refereeing classes said about Mike,' what
makes this guy different to most of them is that he actually
understands the game'. Very true words.
Mike Dean is also recognised as being one of the most supportive
referees towards his colleagues. If a referee has a high profile
difficulty/disaster in a match then a supportive text from Mike
Dean isn't very long in coming.
I too am surprised that Dean hasn't had more of a stellar
international career; his style would seem to suit that.
However, as someone has pointed out he was active at the same
time as Howard Webb, Mark Clattenburg and Martin Atkinson and so
perhaps fell a little under their international radar.

Would his style of officiating be acceptable to the FIFA?

I think his flamboyant style would go down better in UEFA/FIFA
       circles!
