It's been a busy afternoon for his cards; 10 yellow and 2 red.
I shall await MOTD with interest.

David Coote- Brentford vs Aston Villa

Firstly, Lee Betts replaced Mark Scholes, who according the PL
website was both AR2 and AVAR.
Secondly, a crazy game of football with abysmal behaviour from
both sides especially serial offenders Emi Martinez and Neil
Maupay. However, David Coote didn't cover himself in glory. The
first red card is a shocking tackle from Ben Mee. David Coote
who was stood five yards away with a clear view of the incident
somehow only gives yellow, before VAR intervenes. At the screen
he is shown the exact same angle which he was looking it at
from, a clear red which he really should have seen. At this
point he lost credibility. Two minutes later he ignores what
looks like a clear penalty.
Then Martinez and Maupay acting like children at the end, Coote
was too slow to react and prevent a potential outburst, perhaps
AR1 could have helped. Results in a correct red card for a push
round the throat.
Both managers rightly booked (just as Areta was again) and
imagine some FA charges will be going to both teams with 9
yellows and 2 reds being dished out

I have never seen mr coote fair well in a game that gets
tempestuous and often his style of officiating leads to a game
getting tempestuous.
With regard to the Mee challenge Another sg1 official that
cannot see SFP under his nose, perhaps he was to near? Var
bailed him out.
Maupay angered Martinez by barging into him after The goalkeeper
made a hash of a save resulting in the ball going out for a
corner kick.
Things then boiled over again and two hotheads got involved
again minutes later, Martinez first pushing Maupay who fell to
the floor and tried to pick him up off the floor by grabbing his
shirt collar, the keeper was lucky only to receive a yellow
card. Emery was booked for entering the field close by the
dugouts trying to calm down his over enthusiastic goalkeeper.
A melee occurred in the goal after watkins scored what turned
out to be the winner, his celebration was a little over the top,
however after the game it has been revealed that a supporter
behind that goal had been abusing him all game and the
celebration was aimed at the said person. Personally i dont see
that as mitigation but can understand his feelings.
With reference to the red card for Kamara cant condone his
actions, silly boy, but i have seen players do worse things and
stay on the pitch.
Not a great advert for football, from both sets of players and
officials.

Having watched the highlights, the incidents towards the end
looked like Coote really allowed them to get out of hand. If he
was more proactive, got himself to the incidents quicker he
could potentially have saved it from becoming ridiculous!

Tough for any referee to control that when the players are
behaving so badly but I'm afraid Coote seems to have very little
natural authority about him and doesn't appear to impose himself
on the game when it's necessary to do so.

Indeed. A referee with little natural authority who has failed
to excel at any level but has continually been pushed ever
higher in the refereeing hierarchy. No surprise when something
like this happens.

I never cease to be surprised at the amount of gamesmanship with
which Martinez routinely gets away. Maupay was undoubtedly
foolish to give him the chance to roll around in mock agony, and
thereby to securing YCs for both of them - which were correct
sanctions IMO. However, in virtually every game in which I have
seen Martinez play he manages to escape with - at worst - a YC,
usually issued in the 90th minute, notwithstanding the fact that
he has been blatantly time-wasting since half-time, and warned
accordingly, often on several occasions.

Martinez escaping even a caution is glorious poohousery.

He got booked just after the red card was shown to the Villa
player

Fair play to both managers for acknowledging their teams lost
it, and they really did. Frustration just seemed to build and
build with protracted VAR stoppages and Martinez and Maupay
acting like weans, but Coote did seem to be wandering around
like a fart in a trance not doing very much as things kicked off
and I think he needed to be assertive sooner. However players
need to be better than that.
