intimidating, it needs a very very strong ref to stand up and be
counted. It needs the likes of Taylor, Brooks or Gillett, refs
who treat both sides fairly and just give exactly what they see.
I’m afraid today the complete opposite happened.

Newcastle do seem to get a fair deal of big decisions go their
way at St James Park, just look at the games this season and key
match incidents… very fortunate side. Poor little Fulham seem to
be on the wrong end of it today

I have been involved in football at senior level for 58 years
and have been watching it for around 73 years and your statement
is typical of football throughout those years whether played at
Newcastle, Arsenal, Old Trafford and even Wembley. Home teams
always seem to get the rub of the green, however, officials do
their best to give fair decisions on what they see and this is a
fact.
I think that there will, and always has been, unconscious bias
towards the home side, particularly with a large crowd in
attendance.
VAR has not helped this at all and fans will always feel that
"poor little (enter any club outside the Big Six)" have been
hard done by.
It will not change so just get used to it ---I have with
reservations.

Poor today I have to agree with everyone …. Red was clear cut !
Should have banged it out straight away… didn’t need to go
yellow.
Also Newcastle had 2/3 mandatory cautions not given !! So first
big acid test for Barrett and failed imo …. Needs to be stronger
going forward and get the card out evenly … 2/3 missed cautions
today not good.
The “hype” that surrounded him very much now has pretty much
gone now for me until I see some stronger officiating.

He’s still very new at this level, why do we insist on writing
officials off the minute they have a bad game

The red may be clear cut, but Match of the Day showed Mr
Barrotts view was obscured by a Newcastle player cutting across
his view at the moment of contact so would be an element of
guessing. Good VAR intervention and fairly quick to realise its
a red with a better angle.
Examples of the mandatory cautions you believe he missed would
be helpful to allow others who havent seen the full game to
understand why you feel he did so poorly. Hes in his 7/8th? PL
game and already had 2 top 6 sides, even if he had a below par
performance hell still be one of the better performing referees
so far this season

"Young" or "inexperienced" players make mistakes, learn from
them and become better. Many a pro in most major sports talks of
intimidating places to go, where the crowd has ab affect (be it
the shed at Gloucester, Old Trafford in its pomp, I always found
Luton a bear pit). Until you have been in these atmospheres you
don't know how it will affect you and you adjust next time.
Sam has a couple of decent Championship games next which will
test him and aide his development further.

Very poor by MOTD, not only was Silva's interview 'ridiculed'
with some sort of background music but they were happy to
broadcast his post-match comments but apart from glossing over
the Lascelles elbow, they failed to show any examples of why he
and most Fulham fans felt that Barrott's performance was frankly
unfair.
It wasn't just the 'one-way award of fouls and cards', I feel
Salisbury let Fulham down too. The fact that Barrott missed the
Lascelles elbow, Salisbury should've recommended an OFR. Muniz
was apparently cleaned out at the start of the build up to a
NUFC goal but this wasn't reviewed (apparently) or discussed. I
still believe the offside lines were incorrectly drawn for
Newcastle's 2nd, as Wilson's shoulder was just goalside but
Salisbury appeared to use his foot which was onside.
I thought Barrott made a great start as a PL ref, but as I said
at the time, his first game at Fulham was a very easy game to
manage. This time he fell short and I hope the powers that be
recognise this and throttle back slightly his rise to the top

First of all, Lascelles contact with Jimenez was a foul and a
yellow card. Unless Salisbury thought it was a clear error and
should have been red he cannot recommend a review can he?
Secondly, how anyone who has watched that game can say that the
Jimenez foul was not a red card is a genuine mystery to me. He
went in with force, had both feet well off the ground so was not
in control and made heavy contact with the player's head. If
that is not endangering the safety of an opponent I don't know
what is.
Silva has too much history with blaming defeats for his team on
refereeing performances. He has now done three times in a row
against these opponents and his behaviour in the FA Cup tie at
Old Trafford last season was disgraceful. Fulham lost yesterday
because of the petulance from Jimenez. He should be berating
his player not the referee. Players make far more mistakes than
referees.
I wouldn't be surprised if Silva faces an FA charge for his post
match comments. Questioning the competence of a referee and
implying bias towards one team is simply wrong. If he gets away
with it Like Arteta did it will be bad for the game.

Behave, it wasnt an elbow by Lascelles it was a forearm and
certainly not a red card.
Barrott was fine, we maybe got slight ryb of the green for a few
fouls but overall he was horrendus.
Silva is just acting like a toddler

Going through Silva's comments on the BBC Sport website he said
that he wasn't saying the Newcastlle player should have been
sent off so it seemed a bit odd to me to question the
inconsistency of those two decisions because one seemed suitable
for VAR intervention and one didn't, based on Silva's own
comments.
