Really really poor from Alan tonight. Every time someone goes
down he gives it. Every foul results in a yellow card. Barrow
get a pen for a push, they do the same thing to Crewe but no
pen. Inconsistent ref who was handing out Christmas cards when
he wanted. Booked 2 of our players for dissent, yet doesn’t book
one of theirs who he spoke to for 2 minutes? Make it make sense.

I agree it was one of the worst refereeing performances i have
witnessed in the EFL for some time card happy with 8 cautions,
and after cautioning the Barrow no 13 he gave him another
mouthful so he got the Barrow skipper involved involved. George
Ray did the same antics when he played for Crewe always falling
over in the penalty area. during the game he did not look
interested he just seems to walk about but always i noticed
talking to Barrow players. The performance was below the
standard but he still gets given games to spoil. When cautioning
players he just shows the yellow card but his well away from the
players and points at the players his communications skills are
very poor. The only positive thing about his performance was he
had a very whistle.

Another positive he had his shirt tooked in! No other positives.
Like you said, one of the worse performances I’ve ever seen in
my 15 year life time.

Another official having a bad day at the office was Sunny Singh
Gill in the Rovers v Swindon game, think the poorest performance
of the officials I’ve seen to date at Prenton Park this season.
There was no issue with Mr Singh’s fitness, he kept up with play
well, but given the random nature of some of his
decision-making, did wonder if he ought to have positioned
himself a bit closer to the action. There was one obvious foul
on Saunders, he gave the wrong way and a number of others which
were debatable. Ms Singh Gill seemed to penalise relatively
minor contact like a slight push, yet ignored on a couple of
occasions when Rovers forwards were visibly held in an arm-lock
for a sustained period. After waving play on initially, he then
blew up so a Swindon player could receive treatment, while the
ball was in Tranmere possession yet re-started play by giving
the ball to Swindon. Having been lenient with Connor Jennings,
he booked him for a challenge for a loose ball in the penalty
box, which the referee clearly signalled was under the
totting-up process, yet it was arguable if that was even a foul.
While I dislike the current guidance for what constitutes
handball, under it, if the ball strikes the hand of a player in
the penalty box, which is well away from the players body, that
should be a spot-kick and Swindon players were understandably
aggrieved that it wasn’t given.
I’ll end with a positive. During the pre-match warm-up, one of
the ARs, a guy with quite a lot of grey hair and fairly tall was
engaging with a group of young autograph hunters next to the
pitch with chatting and some high fives. Don’t know if it was Mr
Cheosiaua or Mr Guest, but this willingness to engage with the
youngsters was creditable and helps humanise and build a
positive impression of match officials by them.

A quick Google would suggest it was Mr Cheosiaua

That’s two very very poor referees in the space of a couple of
days. Scott Jackson….booking anyone for anything, we dissent get
booked, they dissent bring over the captain and speak to him???

Agree Scott Jackson was poor the in Walsall v Crewe game today,
but to be fair was consistently inconsistent for both sides and
what was already a low bar was probably one of the poorest I've
seen at Bescot this season.

Not sure that stands up to scrutiny tbh, the bringing over the
captain was for a Walsall player about 20-25 mins in and while
yes, Crewe did have 5 YCs, only the one in second half injury
time for the Crewe #2 was actually for dissent. 4 of the 5 were
for fouls, mostly stopping breaks/promising attacks, as was the
early Walsall YC.
While it would be hard to disagree with many, if any of the
actual YCs there was generally inconsistent foul detection, some
tussles a free kick not given, some were given but at times felt
like he tossed a coin to decide which way. Luckily there were no
KMIs for him to make a decision on so had no real bearing on the
result, thankfully.

Our #30 also got booked for dissent after he got fouled first!
Our #7 and #2 both got booked for appealing about the penalty. I
was watching on I follow and I thought pen as soon as it
happened.

You seem to be under the miscomprehension that dissent is OK if
the decision is thought to be wrong? They've been told to crack
down, doesn't matter how big a mistake is thought to be made, a
player shouting and waving his arms around is going to get
cautioned for dissent.
If you think about it dissent is really only for decisions that
people think are wrong, they are hardly likely to show dissent
if they think the decision has gone their way.

Ok, I see where you’re coming from. However, what I’m trying to
say is that dissent isn’t ok but it wouldn’t have happened if
the decision was wrong. Our #30 got booked for dissent around
the 40th min fairly, however a couple of minutes before that a
Walsall player does the same thing but the referee brings over
the captain to speak to? To me, that doesn’t make any sense.
