Strange time to release the appointments
Congrats to Welch and Alison. First time two female officials
have been involved in the same premier league match? Welch and
Aspinall?
England Returns
Extremely happy with Kavanagh (called it), not with Coote though
as it never seems to go well when he is involved in our games.
Not so happy with the boxing day game with Tierney and Hooper.
Few referees with short turn arounds- Brooks on Everton again
and Kavanagh only did Newcastle on Sunday.
No Premier League game for Scott, Barrott, Bond or Harrington.

Linington might as well live at the Vitality!
No surprise with Robinson at our game there, given he’s the most
southerly official in SG1. That’s guaranteed yellow for him!
Decent London derby for Salisbury too, and of course the
headline news is we get Rebecca Welch at Fulham, with the cream
of the UEFA assistants on the line with her.

Great that England's back in the middle on a PL game. I think
it's been far too long.
Good luck to Welch and Allison on their PL referee debuts. I'm
probably more surprised by Allison's appointment. It's also a
live game in the UK which I think can be a bit higher profile,
at least in this country.
Great appointment for Kavanagh in Liverpool V Arsenal. Gillett's
due to referee Spurs tomorrow and has them again on 28th.
I'm surprised appointments for 30 Dec round haven't also been
released. Hopefully Harrington/Bond might make a PL return then
and likes of Bramall might also get a game.

Won't be popular..... but these are two political appointments.
Allison's is certainly undeserved.... others should be getting
the opportunity over him. Welch I could see coming I guess.....
but still not in favour of appointing anyone to a game when SG1
is available already.

Surprised by Rebecca Welshs appointment due to her only doing
about 6 Championship games so far in her career.
Seems to have done reasonably well in the FL but thats a massive
jump, could ruin her confidence if she has a bad game.
Hope the appointment is for the right reasons (her potential)
rather than for show/box ticking.

Can’t speak for Welch but Allison was by far the best referee
we’ve had at the King Power Stadium this season. If he’s
officiating like that on a regular basis then he fully deserves.
It’s easy to scream politics but from the evidence I’ve seen
it’s fully deserved, it’s not as if some of the current crop are
deserving anyway.

Firstly, well done to both - best of luck to them over the
festive period.
Personally, I don’t like the way they’ve been “advertised”
together, that does create a little bit of unease in my head.
It’s important to celebrate success but this feels a little
forced. I’m not going to comment whether I think they were
worthy as i’ve not seen enough of them. Rebecca has been okay in
the games i’ve seen, Sam less so but we’re talking about a
couple of games for each.
My main hope is that they have successes and get by without any
of the ridicule that the current SG1’s tend to get every week,
regardless of performance. I hope the way that these
appointments have been “marketed” together doesn’t do any
detrimental harm on Sam and Rebecca and put on any added
pressure for a day that they have been working towards for many
years.
