Romero lucky to just get a yellow for the foul on Wilson,
definitely an orange card as caught him top of foot and seemed
       to jump in a bit
       Correct call for Tottenham pen

Totally agree. He's just come back from injury, 3 seconds on the
pitch and that horrible Spurs player did that.
       Newcastle look absolutely exhausted.

It has been another good game for Chris who I think is probably
the best performing official so far this season. After a run of
top games, City v Liverpool, United v Chelsea and now Spurs v
Newcastle to name three games, he’s controlled every single one
fantastically well without any major issues. At a time where
English refereeing is under the spot light, I don’t make any
apologies for bringing this up 👏🏻
All cautions in this game have been spot on as well as the
penalty call. The yellow card for Romero was correct IMO, it
certainly wasn’t an obvious error so VAR was never going to
overrule. We don’t have an orange card so if it’s not enough,
yellow is always the best outcome.
The best thing you can say is he faded into the background for
large parts and played advantage wherever possible, well done
       Team Ref!

To be honest, I don’t have a scooby doo now as to what is a red
card these days for these type of challenges.
Onyeka should have gone yesterday but didn’t, Romero ( who is a
serial offender when it comes to X rated challenges) similarly
       stayed on.
We must have a very high threshold these days for potential leg
       or ankle breakers.

It feels that while the current SG1 are good at spotting and
clamping down on the more technical fouls, the same awareness
doesn’t seem to extend to some dangerous challenges and often
VAR doesn’t seem to want to get involved.

Missing that Romero challenge in real time is understandable but
when the VAR has time to study replays it’s unforgivable. That’s
excessive force which endangers an opponent and is a clear red
card. Have referees been told to apply a higher tolerance level
for this type of offence? I suspect Curtis Jones would like to
       know.

3 big games in 3 weeks for Kav, Dan Robathan and Simon Bennet
and they have pretty much aced them, only 1 decision that has
raised an eyebrow and that is the one today. He had no chance to
spot that at full speed in real time, a lot of it was on his
blindside. I simply cannot understand what went on with VAR
though, is the threshold too high? Was it not enough for 'clear
and obvious'? Did VAR just let him down? The 3 on-field are
working so well as a team right now & I am loving that.

Wonder if Peter Bankes thought about the Chillwell red card that
he called the referee to review (Also Chris Kavanagh) and
resulted in a red card which was later rescinded. Its a clear
red card and should be a four match ban. Kavanagh been the best
referee so far this season with Jones and Barrott

Another good display of officiating from Kavanagh. In the top 2
       for me, with Oliver.
