It certainly seemed at times that every foul by a Palace player
was a YC but not so by Liverpool. The bar for the first 2
Palace cautions, and indeed the second YC for Ayew, which imo
was very harsh, was low, and on that basis 2 Liverpool players
could / should have been sanctioned earlier.
For the first Palace penalty overturned after an OFR, it looked
to me as if Madley took an awful lot of convincing about the
earlier Palace foul judging by the time he spent at the monitor.
After the sending off and Liverpool equalised, I gave up
watching to be honest, so I don't know what YCs followed.
Yes, dave26, a bad day at the office indeed.

Do we think there might be some subconscious levelling up going
on given the horrific Diaz decision and the huge fallout from
it?
Palace have every right to be hugely aggrieved.

Not much doubt about it. And not wanting to upset Klopp more
than just the once. (Editedyou were warned)!

And before anyone says, it’s just one game, one referee, one
team blah blah blah, ever since that September game Liverpool
have benefitted in virtually every single game. You like to
think it evens out across a season but it won’t.

Let me guess, Arsenal fan?

To add the poster above who seems to think Madley gifted
Liverpool 3 points, Ward was very lucky to stay on the pitch.
Its what Ayew deserves after his dive vs Arsenal which resulted
in a SYC earlier in the season

It didn't exactly all go Liverpool's way given they had two
penalties awarded against them, albeit with one overturned by
VAR.

I think the OP may have self combusted if the ball hadn’t fallen
to Salah for Liverpool’s opener as there would have been a
certain penalty and Palace would be down to 9 men!
I don’t think Madley had the greatest of games if I’m honest and
thought Ayew was very unlucky to be sent off. Then again, if he
hadn’t have got his petulant first yellow card then he wouldn’t
have been.
The first penalty involved a clear and obvious foul in the build
up and was shocked Madley spent so long at the monitor before
reversing it. Conversely, not sure why Brooks took so long to
recommend an OFR for the one given but, in the end, the right
outcome was reached on both occasions.

Apparently there was a tight offside on the palace player who
put the cross in for the penalty given, which is why it took
John Brooks so long to recommend the review. Surely Andy Madley
at that point should have stopped the game, like Marciniak did
in PSG vs Newcastle if the ball is being passed around the
middle of the pitch (it just looks better, and people know what
is happening).
Genuine question to someone on here who probably knows the law
better than me, What would the restart be if the Palace player
was offside?
Does Madley get sent to the screen, come back and give offside?
Is it play on, ignore the penalty incident? or is it just given
as offside on the pitch?

Lovely gamesmanship from Van Dijk kicking the ball at a player
who had little time to get away, thus resulting in the first
yellow card. Klopp must be very proud of him.
