       A.madley palace v Liverpool

(Edited), Liverpool benefit again from his madness. Ayew sent
off for a second yellow for the most innocuous of fouls. How
many more decisions can go the Reds’ way?! Absolutely horrific
       officiating.

I wouldn't go overboard, it was a foul and although fairly
innocuous it stopped a potentially promising attack and you see
yellow cards often for these type of challenged. Had he not
already been booked, it would've been nailed on, so why should
it be different as a 2nd yellow card? It certainly wasn't a
clear and obvious error. If you want to talk about those, look
no further than the 'two penalties', one given in error after
Madley had missed a foul by Hughes, and the one he didn't give
which VAR asked him to review.

That was not a yellow card, it was a normal foul. Barely a foul
at that. A truly awful decision.

You know he’s having a mare if even Roy Hodgson gets a booking.
Must be his first ever. He has seen a referee out of his depth,
incapable of making the simplest of decisions time and time
again. It’s cost his team dearly here, against one of the title
contenders for who, everything is falling their way game after
       game.

I will keep it short and sweet and say it’s been a bad day at
       the office for Madley today

Never a second yellow, routine free kick and you can’t really
       say it's SPA.
I personally think there is no clear and obvious error to over
turn the award of a penalty. If that challenge by Hughes is
waved away by the on field ref in the box they don’t get sent to
the monitor to award the pen.
8 YC and a Red and I am perplexed at how that’s happened.
I think Palace will be getting the famous Webb phone call in
about an hours time to offer the apology.

Maybe we should have a predict an apology competition who will
get the “Webb apology “ next week ?

Awful awful performance way out of depth , seems every foul is a
yellow card and that’s making trouble for yourself, made himself
centre of attention and as others point out if you are booking
roy hodgson you really do need to analyse your own performance.
I cannot even find a positive in his performance, I don’t buy
this Liverpool get everything rubbish but today palace have been
very very hard done by from a very incompetent refereeing
       performance.

Whilst I have already given my views and I think he was way
below par I really struggle with these “out of their depth”
comments (not just yours but anyone’s when it’s not a trial game
       or equivalent)
You are talking about an established SG1 and Fifa referee who
has had a bad day at the office, which we all can.
To say he is out his depth is simply not the case or he would
not be operating at the level he is for the time he has been. A
bad day does not make someone incompetent

[/quote] today he was out of his depth and gave an incompetent
performance, any attempt at minimising or other such excuses is
why we are seeing so many below average performances lately and
why we all get so excited when we see a good display. I defend
anyone who questions a referees competence what I won’t support
is anyone suggesting a referee deliberately favours a particular
       team .
