I completely agree, thought Williams and O Keeffe put in a
decent showing and a good weekend for the officials overall. O
Keeffe is clearly well ahead of Williams in WR's view, I
actually think Paul is pretty harshly treated by WR.
In terms of Pearce, it was really interesting to see on the
documentary that Luke was in line for a QF (where they
ultimately ended up opting for Raynal). As I said previously,
Karl's stock went right up in terms of WR view with is QF
performance (and Bryce Lawrence put him forward to referee the
SF between Argentina and New Zealand).
Looking forward to seeing Nic, James & potentially Pierre (if
       fit).

"Bunker system" for 6N is one Foul Play Review Official
Ian Tempest was on Fra vs Ire
Eric Gauzins was on Ita vs Eng
Brian McNeice was on Wal vs Sco
It would appear that a 2nd member of the TMO panel will be used

Unfortunately Luke Pearce has had to replace Pierre Brousset as
referee for Ireland vs Italy as he hasn't recovered from the
injury he sustained a few weeks ago.

A fascinating watch, thanks for sharing. A number of things
       stand out for me -
       1. The importance of families and family support. Many of the
refs referred to the sacrifices made, not just by themselves but
by their families too. The sheer nastiness and brutality of
       online abuse for all
       2. The wonderful camaraderie among the group and the way they
encouraged, supported and consoled one another.
       3. Christian beliefs - Gardner having words from Philippians
engraved on his whistle and Williams seen praying.
       4. The sheer emotional impact - more than one ref in tearis or
       being choked up, especially Berry.
       5. World Rugbys hierarchy of refs as seen before the quarter
final appointments - Williams, Carley and Nika in the 3rd tier,
which of course also means both Dickson and Pearce are rated
       better than Carley
       6. Still a complete mystery why Pearce never featured in any
       capacity beyond the group stages
       7. How both WR and O’Keefe himself admitted mistakes in the
quarter final yet he was still given a semi. Somewhat odd.

I shall be instructing a good Patent KC as soon as possible
       [emoji6]
I only caught the France Ireland game this w/e. I bow to the
superior knowledge of others, especially RCG and Alfie75, in
these matters but there is just something about Karl Dickson's
style of officiating which grates with me. However, if he is
getting pretty well most of his desisions right then absolute
       fair play to him.

Agree with those comments. Thought it was a really good watch. I
would actually have liked to have seen more of exactly why they
       came to the appointing decisions.
Clear also Joel has Bryce Lawrence, Craig Joubert, Stuart Berry
& Tony Spreadbury as the main selectors during the tournament.
Couldn't recognise any of the others.
However, I looked at it that Luke, Andy & Nika were in line for
a QF along with Matthieu (who they opted for).
Joel basically said, yes there were mistakes but Ben still
       should be rewarded.
In the hierarchy, it was clear that Carley received a low mark
for his handling of the Wales v Fiji game, saw a few ambers but
the rest were green. I can understand that shot did potentially
show Paul, Nika and Matthew were in the lowest tier, but, we
can't be 100% sure. I would also imagine like in football the
actual games are graded too. So, even if you had a decent match
with Chile v Argentina - your mark would never be over a certain
number and automatically keep you low.

Shame for Pierre, but great to see Luke twice and his 50th
       appointment!!
       Congrats to Mr Pearce.

Just watched the documentary, thought it was very good - would
have loved if it had been split across a few episodes and we
could have seem more of the group stages and the less prominent
       referees (e.g. Nika)
       Some thoughts:
       - Still absolutely no idea what Luke Pearce did wrong in that
tournament - Joel Jutge said something vague like 'he needs to
be smarter with his decisions' but I remember him having a
       really excellent tournament. Very strange.
       - Was surprised how much they showed of the referee's
assessments - you could even see that Matthew Carley seemingly
got a poor rating for Wales-Fiji. Even stranger that Carley
played a part in the final and Pearce didn't!
       - I thought some of the referees seemed a lot more sensitive to
fan reaction than say football referees - not talking about the
social media stuff which is obviously awful but for example Ben
O'Keeffe seeming quite shaken that he was booed by the French
       crowd.
       - Didn't realise how close Nic Berry was to getting a
       semi-final.
       - Despite how he's portrayed on here, Jaco Peyper game across as
a very nice and decent bloke and I really felt for him going off
       injured in the QF.
