Any idea why he stopped the game when the ball was in play for a
potential VAR check
Do they not wait until the ball goes out?

Another disgraceful intervention from VAR.
What on earth is Tomasz Kwiatkowski thinking of sending
Marciniak to the monitor, and even worse still is Marciniak
gives it.
It’s pretty clear now that when Big Brother comes in on a UEFA
match the on field referee is essentially outranked by an
official in front of a tv monitor.

It looks incredibly harsh. Surely it doesn’t matter that his arm
is out?

Wow, wow, wow. Only just turned over to watch the last few
minutes and how the hell is that a penalty against Newcastle!
That is one of the most hideous penalty decisions I have ever
seen, made the worse by the fact it was given after looking at
replays!
Feel sorry for Newcastle as they have defended doggedly from
what I’ve heard from the commentators and what I’ve seen from
the last few minutes. Simply an awful decision that has changed
the outcome of this match.

Great refereeing performance in a really difficult game.
Then he ruins it with the worst decision.
Isn't Marciniak really good friends with Kwiatkowski? Perhaps he
didn't want to reject him. Thats a shocking call.

At some point people are going to realise that they disagree
with the Law and its application, and stop stating decisions are
wrong
This is the world’s best referee, giving a handball that is
given regularly in UEFA competition.
We really need to stop conflating what we want the Law to be,
and what is actually being directed to match officials.
I dislike the current handball law, but UEFA directives are
handball in these situations.

PSG 3rd in the group with us at home next game against bottom of
the group Milan, looks like we could qualify
PSG need help from UEFA to get a point

Ruined what was a very good performance from marciniak. An early
poster has said that uefa guidelines say that’s a penalty, I’ve
seen clearer handballs than that not given this season. Terrible
decision which could end up costing Newcastle a place in the
next round
