I would be prepared to place a modest wager than Sam Barrott
will be the holder of a FIFA badge on 1st January 2026 and with
slightly longer odds on 1st January 2025

With both Madley brothers on the same match is that the first
       time it has happened?
Would be interesting if Taylor went down and R Madley took over
with A Madley in his ear

Great game for barrott. Nothing for Scott again. No game either
for Madley again I don’t think. Surprised Hooper on such an
important game as he has a poor season thus far

It's 'funny' how last season, everyone seemed to be raving about
Hooper and this season is more like the opposite. I doubt a
referee goes from being good to bad (or vice-versa) that easily.
I would wager that in our personal opinions, the refs we
perceive as being good, continue to do so and the ones we 'think
are crap' stay there or thereabouts.
So what sea-change suddenly changes our perception of a ref? I
don't want to get into naming individuals, but there are several
SG1s who I've never rated and probably will never rate and I
daresay I will be watching them expecting them to fail, whereas
for others I have probably been more forgiving due to my
preconceived perception of them. How does one overcome this?

I’d be happy to follow the betting advice of Whistleblower.
I would add that given the explosive nature he’s progressed into
effectively SG1 at this juncture, that he will probably be
deserving of a FIFA badge, given that some previous incumbents
have seemingly been bestowed such recognition with remarkable
       ease.

I guess that like with the players form and confidence has a lot
to do with changes in perception of referees along with a bit of
       luck.
Being appointed to games where players respect the referee and
want to play rather than turn it into a niggly match.
The referee has to earn respect by their performances of course.
Some refs seem natural whereas others tend look manufactured or
robotic and it may be the style and manner of the refereeing
       that appeals to the individual.

To be slightly pedantic about it, I think it’s a lot fairer to
say that an individual (player or referee) is having a bad
season rather than “they’re rubbish” if like Simon, they’ve had
       a successful few years prior.

Appointments seem to be well spread this year (unless you are
       Scott or England)
Excellent game for Barrott - fair play to him for grasping his
       opportunity!
Expect Bond and Harrington into the fray over the next few
       weeks.
Also, decent appointments for Kav (pleased he’s back having an
       awesome season!), Hooper and Salisbury.

At least a month ago or so now.
