Kavanagh may not be based in Manchester but he was born there.
Liverpool supporters are already complaining about this on
social media. I am sure this has been discussed elsewhere on
RTR, but it is typical of conspiratorial supporters who mistrust
anything just for the sake of it. I feel it is Liverpool fans
getting their excuses in early! They have a fine referee who I
am confident will do a good job, a deserved appointment.

I'm a bit disappointed England still hasn't had a PL middle
since Spurs V Liverpool - I think not having him referee a PL
game for over 2 months seems a bit excessive.
The PL seem quite light on SG1 numbers currently, which I guess
explains for instance Bramall's appointment as FO. I don't think
Oliver or Tierney are involved this week? Still no games for
Bond and Harrington (we presume injured) and Coote still away
with FIFA.
How many on-field appointments has Massey-Ellis had recently? I
don't seem to remember her being an AR in PL for a while
although I might be wrong.
Good games for Kavanagh, Jones and Brooks amongst others.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Darren England is feeling pretty
p***ed off at his treatment. He is clearly being hung out to dry
and the severity seems excessive to say the least.
For me it all begs the question, will his FIFA status be under
threat come the end of the year?

Simon hopper with the big game at St James park with John Brooks
and Neil Davies on VAR duties

Perhaps being pedantic, but I don't see that as a big game. A
potential top 4 team against a team that are currently 10th and
will probably struggle to finish top 6. Certainly isn't "the"
big game given the weekend opens with Man City vs Liverpool.

What i don't get is why Dan Cook is back officiating on the PL?
Both are just as at fault for the mistake.
The only reason I can think of is if England officiated a
premier league game he would be under big pressure and if made a
big error again then he would get slaughtered in the media.

I don't think I agree that they were equally at fault. Firstly
England was the more senior official who is ultimately
responsible for what happens and secondly if you listen to the
audio England didn't give Cook much chance to intervene - not
that I think Cook came out of it terribly well either.
I could understand England not having a VAR appointment for a
few months but I think he should have refereed a PL game again
by now.

Must only be complaining as he's from Ashton-under-Lyne, though
they cannot really complain - they've won the last 6 matches
he's officiated them, and it's something like 12 wins in 13 in
the PL over the past few seasons

Every SG1 official who is available (assuming Michael Oliver and
Paul Tierney are unavailable) is appointed on Saturday bar Tim
Robinson. Any last minute pull outs from VAR officials might
mean a SG2 official has to do VAR duties
They'll drag England off his EFL game and replace him with a SG2
if needed. Tim Robinson is at Brentford.
Yes, missed Tim Robinson, I am not sure they would use England
