       Sorry but stats for referees showing number of penalties given
       per game is completely irrelevant. The referee can only award a
       penalty if an offence is committed in the penalty area during
       the game they officiate in, so
       Comparing these stats is like comparing apples to oranges.

       Agreed, and if the penalty award is wrong, then surely the VAR
       will step in and send the referee to the monitor.

       How many referees have been asked to review penalty decisions
       by going to the monitor this season ?
       I bet it isn't many, has it swung too much the other way now ?
