According to a recent interview with Massimiliano Irrati it is
UEFA policy that elite level referees do not also serve as
VARistas. If that is true, the question is why Michael Oliver
does sometimes get given VAR appointments.

Alejandro Hernandez Hernandez in a UEFA Elite referee and he
still operates as a VAR in UEFA Competitions

I've heard a rumour indirectly that he simply doesn't like doing
it so requested not to. Oliver, conversely, apparently enjoys
the role.

Some bogus website published an article saying Taylor has been
"demoted" to the Championship and X (twitter) thinks its
permanent 😂😂😂

I saw him trending on Twitter & did a sorry to ruin your day but
he's not been demoted tweet/post whatever it is - no response to
it though! If they were trying to keep him out of the limelight
10.5k tweets suggest they have failed!

I appreciate that and we do try to keep it as balanced as
useable for everyone but it's a hard balancing act. We want
everyone regardless of their ability and needs, to feel
comfortable communicating in the best way that they can and
encouraging all of our members to have respect for those who try
their best to do so. This is and always will be an all inclusive
board, all of the admin team are very passionate about making
sure that it is and our members are very supportive.

What’s the difference between doing it at Stockley Park and
doing it on the pitch though it’s the same thing so I don’t get
why he doesn’t do it either
