Yes, I do agree that it should’ve been a handball against our
striker before your keeper got sent off. For the second red
card, I do agree. The grass was wet and it was the dying seconds
of the game - I would’ve let it go.

Still have the same opinion, Ross Joyce is a good referee. 2 red
cards for Tranmere, one for their goal keeper for handling the
ball outside the box and one for a late challenge (2nd yellow).
Just after Crewe’s 2nd, play was stopped for 8 mins and most of
the supporters were bemused to why. Apparently, some Tranmere
fans had thrown coins/small objects at AR2, for some reason I
don’t know. Crewe flying high this season, but what happened
with Colchester? You looked a good team when you played us, what
       happened today?
       [/quote]
Firstly Crewe were comfortable winners and I don't think
anything Mr Joyce did had a significant impact on the outcome.
Thought he had a reasonable game, but there were a few talking
       points from a Rovers perspective;
Jolley kicked on the boot first half and goes down in the Crewe
penalty area, no penalty but corner.
McGee sending off. No issue with that in isolation, but McGee
initially wins the challenge and the ball makes contact with the
arm of the Crewe forward, which is away from his body, so an
argument for unnatural position and free-kick to Rovers
Davies second yellow, player is running on the wet grass, slips
and takes out the Crewe player. No intention, is it reckless
just to be running in that situation?
Nigel Adkins post-match was unhappy about Mr Joyce, not because
of the dismissals but for something else which he declined to
talk about on air. It may relate to the handling of the
coin/seat throwing incident and communication issues. Sadly most
clubs including Rovers have a few thugs in their support, but
after our own keeper was targetted by missile throwers at
Crawley, you'd have hoped it had sunk in how inappropriate such
       antics are.

       Was it Mike Dean? 🤣😅

Not yet seen this mentioned on here that Charles Breakspear had
an interesting incident on Saturday, sending off the Gillingham
caretaker manager Keith Millen for tripping Walsall's Tom
Knowles as Knowles was picking the ball up to take a throw in.
  HTML https://www.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/12984502/you-can-not-do-that-walsall-head-coach-mat-sadler-sent-off-for-tripping-gillingham-player
Seeing happen live, it maybe looked worse than it did seeing the
replay as I think Millen was just trying to poke the ball away
rather than trip Knowles, so I was wondering....what is the
offence that he would have actually been sent off for?
Absolutely not condoning what he did, however my thought was
that even if he had poked the ball away, surely that only
warrants a yellow card for delaying a re-start? If it is in
relation to what a player may see red for then is it serious
foul play, hardly. Violent conduct, definitely not.
Maybe if it had sparked a melee among players and benches then I
could understand a red and possibly the speed in which the red
card was shown denied the chance of handshakes all round and
       carry on with the game?
Interested to know if anyone has come across anything similar?
That incident aside, Breakspear was very good, always in
control, no other major incidents or flashpoints to speak of. A
little trigger happy with his cards with 6 yellows and the red
for Gills manager literally being the worse tackle of the game
however he is no means alone in that respect which is more
becoming the norm in the L1/L2 games I have seen this season.

Absolutely 100% correct in law and no option for the referee:
       Law 12 states:
       Sending-off
Sending-off offences include (but are not limited to):
       • delaying the restart of play by the opposing team e.g.
       holding onto the ball,
kicking the ball away, obstructing the movement of a player

Fair enough, agree 100% correct in law. This is another example
IMO where in the modern game/laws, the punishment of a red card
and subsequent ban, far outweighs the crime.
It could be argued there is often an 'option for the
referee'...maybe if he had gone in with a Kovacic on Odegaard
type of tackle he may only have got a yellow card 😉 ;)

I completely disagree. Preventing an opponent from playing the
ball when you are not a member of the opposition playing eleven
is a clear abuse of the privilege of being allowed to sit in the
technical area. Expulsion from it and a subsequent ban seems
       entirely fitting.

For me, it’s at worst reckless and at best careless. Obviously
didn’t mean to trip or hurt Knowles but he’s got to be aware of
the player coming towards him and failing that, must know that
there’s a likely chance a player is looking to take a quick
throw. I did very much enjoy Charles’ shrug and audible telling
       off of Keith Millen though!
