An atypical but astonishingly poor decision from Oliver. I
wonder what he thought he saw as it's so obvious. He will look
back on this with equal embarrassment and annoyance at himself I
should think.

I didn't see the rest of the performance, but Oliver has made 2
very big errors over the last 7 days, as VAR for Brentford last
week and now today. Thankfully, today had no repercussions on
the result and therefore, wrongly, there will be no
repercussions for Oliver as we are a results led business!
Brooks after what I've heard was a good showing at Luton 24
hours ago, must now also face repercussions.

Not used to Michael making errors - he is usually as slick as
anything, so especially surprised to see him not give a second
yellow to Kovacic, one of the most straight forward decisions
you'll ever see. I wonder if his head is not in the right place
recently?

Why must Brooks face repercussions? Personally he was correct
not to intervene.

I am very surprised at Oliver, who is normally on top form, for
that not to be a 2nd yellow
For the first yellow I agree with the onfield decision with
yellow

Oliver should face punishment. Two horrendous decisions from him
in the past week, and although he was 40 he was part of the
spurs vs liverpool match.
Perhaps its a PGMOL thing to try and reduce the high numbers of
red cards seen so far this season.
Bankes had a clear red card ignored, same with Oliver and Taylor
really as well. Jones the only exception today.

The consistency in PGMOL is awful in relation to SFP. Out of the
Gusto, Jones and Kovacic tackles, this one is debatably the
worst. If Gusto and Jones are going to be sent off due to an
OFR, I don't see why Kovacic should be exempt. Brooks has failed
to act in line with the other decisions that PGMOL and the FA
have backed and therefore I believe if repercussions are being
felt by Oliver for missing the 2YC then Brooks should at least
be looked at for this.

Me too. I find it astonishing, if Oliver saw that clearly for
what it was, that he wouldn't have issued a second yellow card.
After blowing for the foul, he made it clear that he wasn't
going to issue a SYC. Only speculation but I wonder if those
stories about the Saudis approaching our top officials is true
and it's playing on his mind. It's a concern that both of our 2
elite FIFA referees are not having their best season so far imo,
at least in the PL. Not sure about their performances in Europe.

Or a recent visit visit to the UAE and then not sending off one
of their players?

I think it’s dangerous ground to suggest that visits to the UAE
by officials and decisions in games have any connection. It’s
unfounded speculation for conspiracy theorists, nothing more.
That said I think PGMOL’s corporate governance is weak on this.
In my line of work extra-curricular paid activities (including
refereeing even though my job-unfortunately-was nothing to do
with football) had to be declared and sanctioned. Had I
suggested that in my spare time I was going to be remunerated
for doing the same job for the owners of a business involved in
the same industry I have no doubt that would have been rejected
as a clear conflict of interest. No matter the integrity of
anyone involved the answer would simply have been no because of
how it looks from the outside.
The rumours of Saudis wanting to recruit referees from the
Premier League seem quite recent and maybe Middle Eastern
moonlighting pre-dates that but perhaps PGMOL will now be
nervous about stopping these trips in case it persuades
officials to take up lucrative contracts elsewhere.
