I would be very interested to learn how Samuel Barrott got on in
his Premiership debut at Craven Cottage. Perhaps one of our
esteemed Fulham correspondents, or indeed esteemed Sheffield
United correspondents, who were at the match this afternoon
       could let us know please.

Whistleblower, you’ll be pleased to hear he was absolutely
superb. Looked totally at home from the first whistle. Let quite
a bit of physical stuff go, didn’t buy any theatrics, and this
led to a highly entertaining encounter. He’s got a demeanour of
always looking in complete control. He knows what is and isn’t a
foul and the players respected this.
He also had to deal with the horrific injury to Chris Basham
which caused a 15 minute delay.
A fantastic performance, and if that is his standard he will be
a SG1 mainstay for many years to come.
This probably isn’t the place to do it, but on behalf of myself
and all Fulham fans, would like to pass on very best wishes to
Chris Basham. A truly horrendous injury for Chris and traumatic
for those who witnessed it. All the very best with the recovery.

A very sound debut performance. As is often said if you do not
notice the ref he had a good game which was the case here.
Other games may be more challenging but hopefully will get more
       opportunities soon.

Thank you Craven and Cottager. I am pleased to read that
Barrott's debut went well. I have commented before that there is
something about his style of refereeing and demeanour that puts
me in mind of Joe Worrall and regular RTR readers will know
there is no higher compliment I can give.

So is he 28 or 30?
edit - looks like he could have been born in 1993 so more likely
       30

A very promising debut, but also an easy match of little
incident to manage where unfortunately the biggest incident by
far was the sickening injury suffered by Chris Basham, which
unfortunately I witnessed live (on TV) with several replays. I'm
sure all my fellow Fulham fans (and all fans of every colour)
will want to send our best wishes to Basham and commend his
appreciation shown to the crowd, even after suffering such a
terrible injury. It very much puts into perspective the
Kane-esque (et al) rolling around after being sniped as opposed
to someone seriously injured and the lack of histrionics.
Perhaps Barrott/VAR should've dealt with Carlos Vinicius'
attempts to get himself sent off more strictly and there was
literally one occasion where he stopped play for an offside
where an advantage could've been played, but nothing else
       whatsover.

Samuel James Barrott, born Huddersfield in the first quarter of
       1993, so 30 it is.
The first time I came across him was in August 2013, when he was
a new Level 4, assisting Tom Nield at Athersley. Assistants do
not usually draw much comment in my musings, but I did mention
him as being both smart and steady.

Excellent debut from Sam. More referees like him, with his
background playing and understanding the game, are exactly what
       we need to move forward.
