Jarred Gillett - wear tees Derby
DIR By: Joecphillips

Sends a player off for pointing and saying it’s a f’ing foul
fails to send greenwood off for a second yellow late challenge
and takes his shin, first half Clarke constantly pulled back
well done.
If we are sending players off in derby’s for what he has Dan
Neil no team will ever finish a game with players on the pitch
Edit forgot about a dive by greenwood while on a yellow

I haven't seen the incidents in terms of tackles and challenges
so I can't comment there.
However I did notice on the VAR clips released, Jarred Gillett
is very strict on dissent and how players speak to him. In my
view if a player points and swears at a referee while on a
yellow card, well, I know where I think the blame lies for their
dismissal.
With great respect as I know you didn't mean your last remark
literally but I'm sure both teams finished with players on the
pitch today, so I don't quite get that argument, Mr. Gillett
obviously felt whatever was said warranted more of a sanction
than his other interactions with players during the match.
I do appreciate your point that referees should show empathy for
emotions from players but equally, players must temper their
behavior towards referees and understand, at least in my
opinion, that treating officials with respect is part of their
duty as professionals.

He didn't send him off for that, he gave him a second caution
for it. The players have been told repeatedly that dissent
won't be tolerated this season, so if a player already on a
caution showed dissent he effectively got himself sent off.

Referees are also told a lot of things, plenty of them ignored
today but Gillet once again he shows he can not manage a game

In the meeting with the managers beforehand Gillet said he would
show empathy for the occasion and would manage it accordingly.
The first YC to Dan Neil was correct however THIRTY SECONDS
before half time the player says " That's a foul" from twenty
yards away come on........... surely a word in his ear that one
more time and you are off.
That is what a GOOD referee would have said.

He didn't say "that's a foul", he said "that's a f***ing foul"
according to your fellow Sunderland fan. If you say that to a
referee when already on a caution you are asking for whatever
you end up getting.

....again come on.......He was twenty yards away.
It isn't as though Gillet hasn't form for this after what he did
at Selhurst Park when Crystal Palace played Wolves.
How many times is the F word heard throughout a game ?
If Gillet cannot accept industrial language used in the heat of
the game then he is in the wrong profession.
As I said earlier a good referee would have managed the game
properly.

Interesting thread this , criticism of a referees performance
for applying the laws both correctly and consistently with how
all clubs were told they would be , I actually think Mr Gillett
should be pleased as the complaints are actually due to him
carrying out his job right .

Sure if you ignore the rest of what was posted and then we must
be saying every other ref is wrong in how they handle games.
He was very much not consistent as well throughout the game
I’m sure he will be pleased once again he has made headlines.

The problem is though he broke a promise to both managers that
he would manage the game with empathy.
Show me what empathy he displayed.
He refereed like he was in charge of a five year old child
having a birthday party.
