Getting back to our original theme, I think the (too rapid?)
rise of Sam Barrott with a PL fixture this week, added to Josh
Smith’s the other week, would seem to confirm that Linington
won’t get a trial match.
I have nothing against Barrott and Smith and from other comments
on here they both seem deserving of their chance at the highest
level. However I can’t help but wonder how the likes of
Linington must feel having been a solid, dependable ref for over
10 years, hoping for the chance of a trial game no doubt, and
then being overlooked by 2 younger refs in such a short period.

He was very good, but speaking as a Wednesday fan I'm pretty
sure a 16 year old newly qualified L7 could have refereed that
game given how abjectly bad we were.

Thanks, but it isn't looking good. If the owner carries out his
threat we'll be in administration by November, it really is a
mess.
Also a bit off topic, but hope it will be allowed given the
nature. There's obviously been a lot of interest in the press
about the absolute morons who held up a phone with a photo of
Bradley Lowery on their phone last Friday. Wednesday fans were
appalled and set up a Go Fund Me page that has so far raised
£16,000 for Bradley's charity. West Brom fans, who we play
tomorrow, have also arranged to have a minute of applause in the
6th minute for Bradley and there will fund raising at the game.
Just goes to show how good football fans can be in the face of
adversity, or in this case stupidity.

Unfortunately he is way too old to get onto FIFA, and that is
always likely to be a factor.

Also bear in mind that most SG2 also have jobs outside of
football and they might not want to give them up in order to
make the step up to SG1

I think I am right in saying James Linngton had his own plumbing
and heating business so may not want the commitment that SG1
would entail
