I am puzzled by this, when I saw it on the reply I thought he
was well onside. Seemed to be looked at really quickly.

I was going on the fact that VAR had checked it and told Hooper
that Holmes had it spot on.
I’ve not seen any evidence yet it’s on or offside..yet.

No doubt Hooper and England won’t be in the appointments next
week. However, is this actually a punishment? They just get a
nice weekend off with their families.

Hooper didn’t actually do anything wrong?
VAR sold him down the river

The only potentially wrong thing is the disallowed goal for
offside. Hooper can't get any blame for that, and we don't know
what has happened anyway. VAR just mark the furthest point
forward that can play the ball of defender and attacker, and
three frames of the ball being played, then the computer draws
the lines. It could have been human error, but equally it could
be a computer error. Or not an error at all, we just don't
know.
I suspect, and it is just a guess, the image shown on the screen
isn't what was used to make the decision. Seemingly there will
be a PGMOL statement shortly.

Oh dear…. The PGMOL have issued a statement stating human error
for not checking the offside.
Darren England and Dan Cook are for the high jump.
Utterly appalling.

"Significant Human Error"
(Edited if you continue to post unconstructive statements your
ability to post will be curtailed…final warning)
Check complete was called within 20 seconds of the goal being
scored. No where near enough to correctly draw the lines

The full statement..
Statement from the refereeing body, the PGMOL:
“PGMOL acknowledge a significant human error occurred during the
first half of Tottenham Hotspur v Liverpool.
The goal by Luiz Diaz was disallowed for offside by the on-field
team of match officials. This was a clear and obvious factual
error and should have resulted in the goal being awarded through
VAR intervention, however, the VAR failed to intervene.
PGMOL will conduct a full review into the circumstances which
led to the error.”

Question we should be asking is why are PGMOL putting such a
weak all round officiating team (including VAR) on the game of
the weekend? It's just simply asking for trouble...

If VAR can't even get *factual* decisions correct then the
argument for keeping it cannot be justified.
How was this decision made so quickly? It was clearly very tight
and on first view looked clearly onside, yet the VAR did the
check in about 20 seconds.
