Wore yellow so can get to the naughty step. Overall was decent,
treated both teams fairly but there was a degree of
inconsistency. The biggest example, Lewis Dunk was booked for
throwing the ball away, no issue with that, correct call &
inline with current guidelines, later in the game David Brooks
clearly kicked the ball away and nothing - should have been a
yellow for him. As it was he was booked (correctly) for a silly
foul just 2/3 mins after, which had the first incident been
sanctioned correctly would have been a YYR. Ok you can argue
that had he been on a yellow already then he would not have
committed the silly foul that did see him booked but obviously
we will never know. Couple of incidents where players (one for
each team) tried to be honest and stayed on their feet after a
foul they could easily have gone down for and didn't get the
foul. I hate all the playacting, as I think we all do, but we as
referees don't help when we don't give a deserved foul because
the fouled player has been honest and stayed on his feet. I have
seen better more consistent games from him but he got the
important calls right and I really do like his style as a
referee. No decisions that impacted the game although there may
well have been a missed YYR if DB had been correctly sanctioned
for kicking the ball away and then went onto commit the foul he
       got booked for.

Consistency following the new directives seems to a recurring
       issue with John Brooks

I'd say in general more than a John Brooks issue.

I watch league 2 football and I can say the refs that come into
league 2 are more stricter on the new rules compared to the
       premier league refs.

Often more strict as they are assessed and the clubs aren't so
       heavily their paymasters!
